Figured I might as well keep my streak going, since my last post was “favorite handgun”.
I’m still not Eugene Tackleberry, but I can tell y’all that two of my friends certainly share his level of enthusiasm when it comes to guns, so they might’ve influenced me a bit.
Also just curious as to how often y’all hit the [gun] range outside of work. Are any of y’all hobby or competitive shooters?
Feel free to nerd out in the comments.
As always, thanks for keeping the scene safe.

Shotgun? Ithaca Model 37. Rifle? I dunno. There are too many to choose from. I shot competitive .22 in highschool but I don’t shoot as much these days due to time and the cost of ammo.
Prolly magpul backpacker 10 22. Dont have one yet but I would love one
FN FAL for pure style and thump. For fighting out of a patrol car, no shit, the KelTec RDB. Because I love eurotrash, the CZ BREN 2. For everything else and for all practical purposes the only real option, the AR 15 carbine.
I picked up a M1 carbine a couple years ago and I absolutely love shooting it. It operates smoothly, it has nice ergonomics, low recoil and it is balls on accurate.
M1 garand is fun, but just for the “ping.”
I recently built a Remington 700 clone in 8.6 blackout that’s a lot of fun to shoot. It’s pretty quiet with a suppressor on it and it’s fun to sling 300gr bullets and hear them hit steel. The ballistics are crazy, though. It has about 4-5 feet (yes, FEET) of drop from 100 to 200 yards. If you try to go out to 300 yards it’s like aiming a mortar tube.
I take my sons out shooting at least once, if not twice a month and we also participate in an “action pistol” match once a month at our local range.
