Why is it that Republicans are seen as being able to solve economic issues, when, for 50 years, neither party has paid off the now $37 trillion dollars the U.S. owes? Republicans place economics as a priority, but the last president to even balance the yearly budget was Clinton, who worked with Newt Gingrich and a Republican Congress.
We’re so divided now that Republicans think the only way they can pass a budget resolution is this brief moment when they have the presidency, House, and Senate (only happened four times in 100 years). But surely there’s a way to do this with both parties – not sure what it will take.
Why haven’t Democrats offered a better fix to the deficit issue? You don’t like DOGE. What would you like to see instead? Or is the deficit not as concerning as other issues? What’s your ideal solution, given the situation (meaning, Republicans will be part of it)? How would you stop a recession? Not what you wouldn’t do, but what you would? Balance the budget? Work with China?
Saying no and why things are bad seems like a reactive and weak position for Democrats. What members of your party are proactive and coming up with viable answers and solutions?

what are their solutions.
No.
Your question should be rewritten to ask what the better alternatives from Democrats are.
You specifically haven’t heard them already, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been offered.
Alternative solution to what?
These are fake problems.
Paying off the debt is a terrible idea. What a country should do is make good investments and use the capital people are willing to give in order to grow faster. You don’t pay off debt, you outgrow them. Paying it off is idiotic.
The budget deficit is even dumber. Cutting funding to to the IRS cost is $500B in expected revenue this year. That’s like 5x what DOGE erroneously claimed they saved us. Instead we should vastly increase the size of the IRS and just enforce the tax’s laws we have on ultra millionaires. Which is what Biden did. And Trump reversed and then made even smaller.
All we really have to do is stop breaking the government and ruining our credit every 4-8 years.
The budget is composed almost exclusively of military spending, which democrats pretty consistently try to shrink, Medicare – which democrats consistently try to replace with single payer-like systems which reduce overall costs, and social security – which democrats try to fund by no longer making new tax cuts for rich people.

Not true. Bill Clinton left office in 2001 with a $128B surplus.
He accomplished this by raising taxes on the ultra wealthy and reducing military spending.
first, literally every democrat president since the 80s has done a better job of the deficit than the preceding republican. They’d be even better if they weren’t always having to fix republican problems like the financial crisis and COVID.
No republican has been fiscally responsible since Nixon.
Clinton actually balanced the budget.
Only the stupidest of the stupid think that republicans want to reduce the deficit.
All they want is to make sure rich people don’t pay taxes.
To even ask this question requires a trumper level of vile stupidity.
Because Democrats were already solving the issues. Biden halved the federal deficit in just two years and was on his way to making even more gains when, as usual, a Republican stepped into office. Now, the deficit will go back up because Republicans always fuck the budget.
There’s nothing to talk about when it was already happening. You just weren’t paying attention.
Raise taxes and fund the IRS to increase revenue. Medicare for all, I pay 12,000 for our health insurance a year and still have deductibles. I’d willingly pay that in taxes for things to be covered.
Have an audit of the federal government. Definitely don’t cut programs that save money. Title X is a great example.
We will have to make changes to SS to keep it viable.
People want shit, but they don’t want to face how to pay for it.
Republicans focus on “problems” that aren’t real problems to me.
I don’t Democrats to offer alternate solutions to these fake problems.
I want Democrats to ignore Republicans when they crow about bullshit.
Right now, it’s because there is a lack of trust in the Trump administration. Especially with transparency, honesty, and general competency.
Musk specifically doesn’t appear to know what efficiency actually is. It’s not cutting programs you don’t like.
I haven’t actually seen a Republican solution to addressing even the deficit. Do you mean the current plan that assumes a massive growth in GDP? There’s other stuff, but you can just listen to what Rand Paul is saying about it.
I’d be all for someone taking an approach where they decide what it is the government is actually supposed to do, then focusing on doing those things well while eliminating everything else. But I’ve yet to hear more than a few congresspersons talk about that.
This would be a valid question if Republicans actually did what they claim they want to do.
The deficit seems to only be a problem when Democrats are in power, when Republicans control spending, somehow the deficit doesn’t matter.

Have the republicans ever had a plan to pay the debt back? Taxes are how we pay it back… they always cut those for EVERYONE. It seems like they have no intent to do that, ever.
Let’s look at the budget deficits on the first year and the last year of the last few presidencies.
Bill Clinton
Start: $255 billion
End: $-236 billion
George W. Bush
Start: $-128 billion
End: $458 billion
Barack Obama
Start: $1,413 billion
End: $585 billion
Donald Trump
Start: $665 billion
End: $985 billion
Joe Biden
Start: $3,132 billion
End: $1,684 billion
So, every single Democrat has left office with a smaller deficit than they entered office with, and ever single Republican has left office with a larger deficit than they entered office with.
…why, again, are we under the impression that Republicans are good economic stewards?
