I have not had a drink of alcohol in 1000 days.

r/

I was a terrible alcoholic for many years. I knocked on death’s door too many times. Now I am able to be present and a part of my family. I have a wife and a son they are both the reason I continue on. I did not realize how much I was missing.
My wife was diagnosed with a terrible disease and I knew I had to change so I did. The withdrawals became severe and nearly killed me.
I treasure every moment. Life is very much a struggle but I am able to guide my family through it.
Every day is a blessing for me. Every day I try to make the world just a little bit better.

That’s incredible. Seriously congrats on beating that terrible addiction. Many in my family have succumbed to it and it’s absolutely brutal.

    Noot my regular account

I’ve been an alcoholic since I was 17. That was just about 50 years ago. I have been hospitalized, jailed, lived on the streets, been so sick I could barely move and I still kept going back to the vodka. I have about a year now, no family, no kids nothing except a desire to not be sick as a dog, lying in a gutter somewhere, passed out and covered with my own urine and feces. Not a fun place to be.

Congrats!!! Every single day took courage, and you’ve stacked up 1,000 of them. 1,000!!! That’s nothing short of amazing. Here’s to many more years.

Congrats! I was in a hospital because of alcohol withdrawal and know it is not an easy or pleasant addiction to overcome.

    Congratulations on the sobriety!

My partner gave up drinking last September. I wouldn’t say he was a severe alcoholic but it was getting there. He’s always had severe anger issues though and I thought that by him stopping, he’d be much better. I was wrong.

I do like him not drinking but I don’t feel like he’s became a more better person. I wish he would change his outlook on life but who knows if that’ll ever happen.

Major congrats!!! I was in a drug rehab program for weed and while that a bit difficult to quit, seeing people who abused alcohol quit looked 500000000x harder. You are a fucking BEAST for kicking the habit and I only wish you the best!!
