Finland. Even though I had always thought I’d move up to the scottish highlands over the next 10 years, Finland is far better due to the North’s remoteness. Developers are currently going overboard for cheaper* land in north Scotland, the city would probably come to me eventually. Also it gives me the oppertunity to learn another language that’s useful as no one speaks Gaeilge except pockets of remote parts in Ireland.
At the moment? Perhaps Poland. Though the standard of living isn’t as high as some other places, they are one of the only European nations that aren’t totally suffocated by suicidal ‘globalist’ policy. They know who they are and I have to respect that.
If I were to place bets on which country will survive the next couple of decades, Poland is a decent bet.
I’d still rather stay in the US but if I had to choose another one either England or Australia. England because I’d like to live in London and it would be easy to visit the rest of Europe, Australia because of the weather, culture, and beaches.
Best move I ever made, although I have a pet theory that each person feels "at home" in a different landscape, followed by culture. For me it is the Canadian Rockies, but I would rather eat my eyeballs than live out on the prairies, but I also really hate the ocean so no coastal options or islands for me (even though I grew up in the UK, lol). I also like the cold and the dry; our two months of summer is hell for me.
My sis emigrated to Australia, and loves the heat and the beach. If we traded or if we went back to the UK, we would both be miserable.
Probably the United Kingdom because of language (I’m 🇨🇦). My gram was from the UK as well, and my younger sister lives there. Although I really did like the Netherlands when we visited.
Ukraine. I’d join the freedom fighters and fight the good fight. Sadly, I’m 71 and they probably would not have me although I am a former US Paratrooper specializing in an anti-tank missile system (TOW – AATW!)
Probably Sweden, they have some of the best metal in the world. Really though I’d probably be happy with almost any European country. Anything to get away from the nightmare America has become.
Im perfectly content here on Canada..but if i had to leave..Australia or New Zealand. Seems we have a lot of common bonds and similar outlooks on life.
Denmark or New Zealand. NZ sounds beautiful, but I’d be afraid of it being too warm. Denmark seems like it’d be cold, but I prefer cold. But LotR was in NZ, but Hans Christian Anderson is from Denmark, and I’ve always wanted to visit the mermaid statue.
It sounds bizarre to say this, but it’s less so about immigrating and more of me wishing I could live in Switzerland or New Zealand but be able to instantaneously teleport myself to Los Angeles and work/network in the film industry.
I yearn so badly to live in the Netherlands. Biking everywhere and using public transit sounds like an actual dream to me… no more car dependency and I get exercise every day??? That sounds like real freedom
I’d stay in California. There are some nice places on this thread, but a lot of them have shit weather much of the year. For me there’s nothing like being able to walk around and enjoy the sunshine for most of the year.
I am Australian, and I am happy here. But we are isolated from the world, so I would immigrate to Switzerland I think. I want to travel Europe, and hike some of the most beautiful trails in the world. And they have friendly relations with their neighbours, so travel wouldn’t be an issue.
Hard to say, on the off chance that the US invades us I hope that the Netherlands would take me in.
I appreciate the care they give to their workers and work life balance compared to North America. Socially, I like how there are less taboo subjects between friends in normal conversation. It would take me a bit to get used to the directness but really it’s a breath of fresh air.
Though, I also realize that things are quite expensive in the Netherlands. Car insurance and health insurance is expensive from what I’ve heard. Also, Dutch is not the easiest language to learn.
