My indoor only cat got out tonight after my son left the backdoor cracked open. I walked around our block with a flashlight calling and looking for him. I’ve been crying since I noticed him missing. I’ve had the cat for about 4yrs and he’s a true member of the family. He is fixed and has only ever been an inside cat , he has no outside experience. I will keep looking for him tomorrow and I’ve posted in our towns fb page. I’m a complete mess. I’m still away after midnight, my kids have school in the morning and it’s my son’s 13th bday! I’m trying to not let me being upset about the cat missing ruin his bday . But i miss my cat so much already and want him back home!

There’s gonna be people telling you to put cat food or cat litter out: DO NOT DO THAT. It could attract your cat but it could attract things that will kill your cat, such as raccoons, skunks, dogs and coyotes. Instead get a shirt you don’t care about and work out in it until you’re super sweaty, then leave THAT outside. Your cat will hopefully smell the overwhelming smell of YOU and follow it home. Additionally, tomorrow you’re going to want to check all the little hidden places in/around/under your car before starting it, lest you accidentally kill your cat.
