How to stop overeating?

r/

I’m a young woman and I struggle in a way a lot of young women do these days. I over eat. Now, this usually happens when I’m close to my menstrual cycle, for me I’m actually a day away, and I know it’s normal to get cravings but I don’t know how to stop giving in to it. BASCIALLY, one week ago I was in a great diet, eating enough, exercising, losing weight and everything but like 3 days ago I started just eating and eating more and more and I couldn’t stop. I never feel full and I’m starting to think I’m using my period as an excuse to eat this much. I want to loose weight but it’s so hard. What can I do?

Try more protein during this time especially red meat if you do eat it. I do steak and eggs in the morning – keeps you full almost all day

I get like this only when I’m PMSing. There’s no feeling full until I’m completely stuffed. I just find lower calorie things to eat, or items that are higher in fiber. Which is to say I eat a ton of fruit and veg!! If it’s only happening when you’re approaching your period, it may also be worth bringing up to your doctor to see if they have any guidance.

If you’re eating like that normally, you should try to find the root cause of whtly you’re eating. Are you sad? Bored? Frustrated? A lot of people use food as a dopamine hit- and while you should totally enjoy what you eat- it may be masking an underlying issue.
