Hello everyone! i posted in this reddit awhile ago about failing my psych evaluation. Applications for the academy itself close April 25th, should I apply to the actual academy or keep waiting for other departments to open sponsorship spots? I have applied to only one other department so far (about 11 days ago) and haven’t heard anything yet, is that normal? The first department sped through the process so quickly I think I have a false idea of how long I should wait. If I wait for other places to open up I will miss the deadline to apply for academy, but if i go to academy I have to pay for it and don’t have anywhere to work after. Curious on the take everyone else has about this and any places that do sponsorships would be helpful! I don’t have anything tying me to where I’m at right now, just really trying to get a job… Thanks!

Don’t know what failed you on the psych?
What state are you in? I can only speak for CA but, I highly suggest not to put your self through the academy. As someone who did this, i wish I just kept applying and have them pay for it. Again, I don’t know how other states work, i hear some of them you are a high candidate if you go through self sponsor route.. but either way continue to apply.. what’s the reason you failing the Pysch? Also, look into non sworn positions.. get into an agency, build a good rep and reapply for sworn.
Going through the academy isn’t going to help you pass the psychological test. You still have to do it regardless
