I gave a stranger flowers and now I feel like a weirdo

r/

please dont judge me😭 so i was at a store last week and i was carrying a boquet of flowers with me. the cashier jokingly said to the other cashier “shes brought me flowers cause its my birthday haha” i reacted postively obviously told him happy birthday and everything, by the way hes an older man maybe in his 50s. i actually went back and got him a small boquet and told him happy birthday again, he looked like happy but the other cashiers gave weird looks. I dont know. maybe i shouldve thought about it before actually doing it. i regret it and think about it often. never told anyone till now

Don’t regret that! The other cashier gave a weird look because they were projecting. They realized they hadn’t done something nice for their coworker but a stranger did.

Never be embarrassed for spreading any type of kindness. The world needs more of it.

I had somebody walk by me and just hand me a flower once a few years ago. My first thought was yeah they’re a weirdo. But that shouldn’t matter to them and likewise not matter to you.

You did great! don’t feel bad about it. He was happy and that was your goal. The stares from his coworkers are probably just jealousy.

Dude! That was such a thoughtful gesture. Wishing a stranger happy birthday with a small bouquet of flowers is not weird at all. It shows how kind and genuine you are-which is really rare these days There’s nothing to regret. Don’t let those cashiers’ reactions bother you-you probably made that man’s day, and that’s something to feel proud of.

Whoa, you’re brave, handing out flowers like that. Not everyone could do this without a second thought. The cashiers might be jelly, but don’t let them dampen your sunshine-you brought joy to someone else’s life and that’s all that matters. Spread more love, m’dear!

You’re so sweet and that is so awesome.

Please don’t let the judgement of others dictate the kindness of your actions.

You made an older 50 year man immensely happy, working on tour birthday can be so soul crushing, and there is the possibility he didn’t have who to celebrate it with or someone who gave him something, so I say you did something beautiful and as long as you made someone happy, you shouldn’t care about what outside people think.

Same onetime I gave a worker something and all of the other workers reacted poorly. I never go there any more lol

Never ever regret a kind gesture. You don’t know what you may have done for him. What if he had no family, no support? Even if he did, your kindness is something he won’t forget.

In terms of those other cashiers, you don’t really know they thought that. They could have been jealous or guilty they didn’t do anything. They could have been having a cruddy day. Or you could have misinterpreted their body language. If they did think it was weird, forget them. Be kind to yourself just like you were to him.

I once had a group of people bring me and my crew at Starbucks individual flowers ā€œjust to thank [you] for everything you do.ā€ I cried in the back room later, and I’m NOT a crier.

Sometimes having your humanity recognized is both jarring and deeply touching. Thank you for showing this person kindness. You’re never wrong to be kind.

Nah, don’t worry about it. A couple months ago, a middle aged guy bought me (I’m a cashier) a candy bar because it was a snow day and I wasn’t having a great day. It was super sweet and I didn’t think it was weird.

OP I think you’re awesome, don’t let a few lame people dull your shine and who you are!!

Being kind is never the wrong answer. What you did was lovely and I’m sure the person felt the same.

You’re a spark of light in this world. That’s very nice! Especially since men often say they don’t really receive flowers

I’ve heard time and time again that sometimes the first flowers a man gets, is during his funeral. Never EVER feel remorse or feel bad on doing a nice gesture! The other person probably just gave a weird look that like you said a STRANGER gave their coworker something and not to them as well or just projection of jealousy. You’ve probably made that older gentleman’s day, if not year or life! Be proud of yourself, u/puzzled_chance_6804 , you did a wonderful thing 😊
