When 9/11 happened i was in the first grade, so i was 6 years old. I have strong and distinct memories of my teacher after the attacks bringing a large poster-size image of Osama bin Laden (seriously, it was big. Like, someone definitely paid money to have this thing made) into the classroom and showing it to us as a group.
I remember her saying that he was a “jerk” (shocking language for me at the time) and telling us we had to keep an eye out for him, because he did a really bad thing and we needed to find him.
Did this happen to anybody else, or was this a “just her” thing? Everyone I’ve ever told about this experience has looked at me like I’m crazy.

Yeah definitely just a her thing, that’s nuts to do in front of kids. I was also in first grade at the time, the teacher turned on the tv and literally showed us what was happening. That was scarring enough.

Uh, definitely not. I was 13 when 9/11 happened, and I’ve never heard of such a thing. Forgive me, but it’s giving me a chuckle imagining an elementary school teacher spending money on a giant cardboard cut out of Osama Bin Laden for the sole purpose of going “NO! BAD!” in front of a bunch of 6 year olds
I’m a bit older than you so I didn’t have 9/11 then, but in elementary school we watched the OJ trial. Not sure what they wanted us to get out of that lol. When 9/11 did happen I was a junior in HS, we held a vigil for our soldiers and waved flags outside of the local military base. I actually got interviewed for the Tampa Bay Times (it was called something else then but I forgot the name) back then
I was in high school and my friend had just gotten his first job in the first week of September. He had to sit through a training that went over things and he told us the FBI was looking for some guy called Ben Ladden or something. I remember it because it was a few days before 9/11. Weirdest coincidence ever.
Not that but I distinctly remember having to choose between voting for Clinton or his opponent in some scholastic colored looking magazine. I don’t recall when it was for sure but I was single digit aged.
