Most Serums designed to make Superhumans only managed to make peak humans before Sentry like Captain America. How did creating Super Solider serums advance so much that a serum that grants Sentry’s powers were made.
Why was it so lightly guarded that Ryan who was a literal meth addict just got it by pure coincidence.
What makes the Golden Sentry Serum so special to where it granted sentry his powers?

Once In a lifetime chance. Creators propably didn’t know that they created something so powerful. Or If you subscribe to the theory that Sentry is reality warper, he made It all up.
There isn’t necessarily a deeper why as to why the serum made him more powerful than they typically do.
Well, one attempt at a Super Soldier Serum also created Man-Thing (though that was an unintended side-effect. IIRC, the intended purpose of that particular serum was to make people immune to all toxins), so it’s not completely unprecedented for things like that to happen. and we already see that different versions of Super Soldier Serums do different things. The Golden Sentry serum was likely never intended to emulate the serum that created Captain America, and was likely intended to be far more potent and grant the powers that it did the whole time.
That Said, it may not have been intended to be as potent as it was. It’s possible that Robert/Bob (not Ryan) may be an Anomaly of some kind (outside of being a schizophrenic) that caused the Serum to be far more potent than its actual design.
It probably didn’t. Bob is a reality warper. The world around him shifts to match his fears and fantasies which is how he accidentally created the Void. He is literally as powerful as he imagines himself to be. I would argue that the only thing the serum did was give him a pretext his subconscious could accept for his acquisition of Superman-like powers
Super Soldier Serum are so often modded, with unintended consequences. In the first place, the Goden Sentry Serum is an outsourced attempt from Project Sentry , a joint US-Canandian Enterprise that was intended to be part of Weapon Plus Program.
It used the incompleted Super Soldier Serum and magnified many times over, then send on multiple research facilities to study and further improve it. It’s a project that exists in-universe since 1947.
So it’s effectively a vial that the professors in the university was merely doing incremental studies as a side-project over 60 years, implied to be also irradiated.
The Golden Sentry Serum makes the user a self-target reality warper. To turn themselves into an idealized hero persona. You can think of as magnitudes above the mechanics of how gamma-irradiated are empowered in a way fitting of their subconscience
There are two explanations I’ve seen in the comics:
The serum is just that powerful, unexpectedly so, a cosmic fluke. Compare to, say, the Hulk, who they weren’t even trying to give powers to. This seems to be by far the most common explanation, although the details vary.
The purpose of the serum was to provide a host for a power from another dimension, the last survivor of a collapsing universe. It only needed to make him strong enough to survive the process, around Captain America level or slightly above. It worked great, give or take some temporal instability as the timeline distorted to deal with the new visitor. >!Until the Void, a real supervillain with energy absorbing powers, killed the Sentry. The Void absorbed so much of the Sentry that he not only gained his powers, but essentially became him, only subconsciously and intermittently aware that there was something wrong.!<
Neither of these comes from a reliable narrator – the first from Sentry/Void, the second from Reed Richards telling the world’s weirdest choice of bedtime story to Franklin.
I haven’t actually read it, but apparently Dark Reign brings up a third explanation: God did it. The Void is the literal Biblical angel of death.
There’s a theory that the serum only enhances what’s already there, which is why there’s not a thousand captain americas. What made Steve so great was always inside of him. So following that logic, Bobby had the potential for great power inside of him already, he does say that his powers function similarly to the molecule man’s and Owen also had a mental blockade that stopped him from becoming the molecule man we know now, but Owen had people to help him along and therapy while Bobby was a drug addict who just pretend he was fine.
The serum was 100.000 more powerful than the standard super soldier serum. It was developed over 20 years but eventually forgotten and abandoned. Then Robert Reynolds found it.
The best explanation I saw, is that the normal serum pushes the hosts mind and body to peak human potential. So you get Captain America. Sentrys serum shatters the limits of the mind and body so you get Sentry who can warp reality with his mind, brawl with the strongest version of the Hulk and regenerate from a single atom.
