My (American) daughter, 9 years old, is starting to learn about the Age of Discovery and various Spanish explorers and conquistadores at school. Does anyone have any English-language book recommendations of early Spanish/Portuguese colonial history for children? I searched and saw some book recommendations for adults, but haven’t seen any geared towards children.

PAPELUCHO written by Marcela Paz. She wrote a lot of stories/books using the same character “papelucho”.
Can you contextualize that?
Books for childrean about Spanish colonization?
LATAM is huge with a lot of different countries, each with it own rich history, be more specific
So, elephant in the room, due to colonial powers and specific individuals like Francisco Pizarro, Hernan Cortez, Juan Oñate, Francisco Coronado, Francisco de Bobadilla, and many others engaging in a lot of abhorrent actions during the age of discovery, there’s a lot of stuff that just can’t, or at least shouldn’t, be explained to a 9 year old.
To give you some recommendations with that caveat, though, the Who Was…? series has books about Cristopher Columbus, Ponce de Leon, and Ferdinand Magellan.
