In “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”, I still put blame on the adults.

r/

I understand the boy was being a little shit but why did they continue to trust him with the sheep watching after even the first time?

I would have put him on outhouse cleaning duty and instead put a responsible adult in charge. It’s ultimately the adults fault that their sheep got slaughtered.

Oh wow. It’s definitely unpopular because it’s not the point of the story but that’s still a good point

Yeah, how dare a family put their trust in a child in a made-up story.

I mean, yes, but the point of the story isn’t that it’s a boy or a grown man. The point is that attention-seeking is bad because when you really need that attention it won’t be given to you. Anyways upvote because it’s a nice unpopular opinion!

It’s a parable. It’s not about blame, it’s about teaching that making shit up has consequences and trust is important.

I think you heard a neutered, PC woke version or something – when I were a lad the lying boy is the one who gets eaten and it’s his own damn fault. That’s what makes it a cautionary tale

What is even the moral if just the sheep die
