    Depends on the context

Usually nothing. Like calling a child sweetie.

  4. lakeskipping Avatar

That would be just a term of endearment, don’t be perturbed about that one.

    ‘Hun’ is short for ‘honey’.
So its a warm sentiment…like calling someone sweetie.

I think its just vernacular. When and where I grew up people would call each other “love”, “duck”, or “flower”.

depends, but most of the time it’s just a way to gently command your attention to connect with you informally

I call younger people hun cause I find them nice. Usually, they make me happy to see bright, happy youths. It brings me good memories of my old friends when we were young. I remember when older people would smile at me when I was young, it made me happy.

It means they like your vibe and want you to know you’re welcome or wanted.

  19. 4lfred Avatar

It’s a term of endearment, nothing more.

I call people hon and guess I fit in the older woman category (though not to old)

It is a term of endearment and I guess on a subconscious level a way of telling the other person. I am nice and kind but also older with a lot more experience than you so likely wiser so deserve a little respect.

It is a nice thing un general.
