Women who are doing well for yourself, doing work in the field you actually love – what steps do you take to give yourself the best life possible?

r/

And do you believe you deserve to live well?

Was reading online about some qualities of people who are wealthy or well off. And one of those qualities across the board is that first, wealthy people believe they deserve to do well and be happy.

Curious about what we women think and believe about all this. Looking to take actionable steps to give myself good things in life as a rule, not an exception.

I’m doing really well on life quality overall. No, I didn’t think I deserved it, but I worked at it.

Work life truly is built as a series of ladders. The “mediocre man failing upward” thing is simply a sign of a normal work structure, built by humans.

Workers and companies need to balance stability, know how in the company, relationships with clients with growth, innovation, change.

So I always picked a financially advantageous position for a girl from a (low/middle middle class). And it does pay off: the degree in science, the name of the school, the doctorate, the languages I learnt, the continuous education, the networking.

It’s never a guarantee, but it works more often than not.

I work in higher education in a small urban environment. I love the academic calendar, I love designing curriculum so it works, and I love helping students learn new skills. I make well under six digits but I have great benefits.

Your question is an interesting one that I hadn’t really considered, but yeah. I think I deserve to live well, and I actively work to make that happen. I give my best efforts daily and take my integrity seriously, I vigilantly protect my work-life balance, and I advocate for myself when I am overwhelmed. I take time for myself when I need it with the understanding that the world doesn’t revolve around me. I think we need to take care of ourselves before we can effectively care for others. I believe wholeheartedly in this quote by Krishnamurti that’s on my wall at work: “What you are the world is.”
