Lol is all I can say, what a joke of a government and what a joke of a country. This poor guy should focus on AA meetings and leave stressful cabinet positions to competent adults, although in the case of the Trump government that is not a possibility I suppose.

  2. breadexpert69 Avatar

I dont take the current administration seriously

  3. DadCelo Avatar

“Our backyard” this is how they think of LatAm.

    Time to unify.

  4. Ponchorello7 Avatar

Distressing, like 99% of the shit they do and say. Lately, I think a lot about this quote allegedly from Porfirio Díaz, “Poor Mexico, so far from God, and so close to the United States.”

  5. New_Traffic8687 Avatar

Stupid but to be fair the Chinese likely feel the same way about us lol.

  6. Away_Individual956 Avatar

Lmao, the absolute entitlement of these fuckers knows no bounds. And there are people here who defend them still.

    >”they let China sweep in with their economic and cultural influence…”

Guise, be serious, do you feel China “dominates” us culturally? What are the signs of China’s “culture” here? Wtf is that even supposed to mean?

  7. El-Diegote-3010 Avatar

I hope the economic crisis finally hit them hard.

  8. Diego_Chang Avatar

    >we’re taking our backyard backwe’re taking our backyard back

Your backyard? Central and South America are continents, but not that they would know given the whole Gulf of Mexico shitshow.

Personally, I feel everyone south to the US has suffered enough at their hands given the US’s history of breaking democracies for their own gain, and I hope that if anything comes to pass, our leaders wise up and band together against the US like they should have done long ago.

This doesn’t seem to be about China, it seems to be about US panicking because their economy may be crumbling and now they may be looking to do the same shit they did post WW2 and mid Cold War as an effort to keep it running.

And why would they worry about our deals with China anyway? Isn’t the US all about freedom and a free market? 😉

Imperialists being imperialists. That said, it’s kinda true with mexico which makes me both scared and sad.

  10. criloz Avatar

They way in which the USA government communicate, it looks like they are a bunch of underqualified people that don’t know about diplomacy, now compared it with xi, he was in Peru few months ago, and he makes a public letter and published it in one of biggest newspaper of Peru, he talked about how great is the friendship peru-china all the culture that they share together and about a great future that will come if both countries continue to work together.

At the end of the day every country look for their own interest and in geopolitics friendship don’t exist, but it will be easy to sell politically china to the masses when they know how to communicate and do diplomacy, and it will be harder to sell USA when people in the highest positions publically act like bullies and talks like this.

  11. Patient_Bug_419 Avatar

Does Latin America really need the rest of the world?

  12. Special-Fuel-3235 Avatar

At least dude was honest lol

  13. I-WishIKnew Avatar

More alternative facts, but what else can you expect. Obama set up the tpp in order to exclude China from having a larger trade influence in the neighborhood. Trump pulled out of it basically day one because it was from Obama, not him.

  14. clase-azul Avatar

Don’t listen to anything coming from American politics..

  15. AccomplishedFan6807 Avatar

I wonder what they mean by taking over of us. Guaranteed they are not talking about investing on infrastructure like the Chinese do.

  16. Fantastic_Peak_4577 Avatar

We should all band together AND strengthen our comercial ties to Asia AND the European Unión the country we know as eeuu Is a failing empire they cant against us all they fear us united it’s Time to shows them their Time has passed we dont need them well thrive on the eagle’s corpse VIVA LATINOAMÉRICA

  17. parke415 Avatar

President Xi: “My predecessors let America take over East Asia, we’re taking our backyard back.”

Such a statement would ignite international fury. The Monroe Doctrine is ethically equivalent whether perpetrated by the USA, PRC, or anyone else.

Geopolitics isn’t a zero-sum sports match with the home team facing off against the opposing team.

  18. Numa25 Avatar

This us what they’ve always thought. It’s better that they’re are saying these things now, because they’re making all apparent and it’s way easier for us to choose our future, i hope it’s far from these barbarian pigs, and we can get much closer between ourselves.

  19. EngiNerd25 Avatar

Well, considering that Trump got elected through election manipulation, I hope LatAm countries invest in their election integrity technology and measures, because the US has been known to interfere in elections in the region to elect their favorite candidate.

This administration is full of fascist that I have no doubt they will go back to US imperialist ways and threaten use of force. They are so shameless about it that they have stated publicly that destabilizing governments is hard work.

Competition in the market should technically be seen as a good thing, but the US is not known to play fair specifically when ran by Trump

  20. Mt548 Avatar

Pure projection. Every accusation is a confession.

  21. Collider_Weasel Avatar

“Our backyard” is my pulsating phallus. Come take it over, gringos, with your mouth.

  22. Mercredee Avatar

Destroying USAID seems like a bad place to start lmao

  23. Good-Concentrate-260 Avatar

You just said “people will enjoy drugs no matter what.” Mexicos drug war has killed hundreds of thousands of people. Of course the cartels themselves and the Mexican government are responsible but if there wasn’t demand in the U.S., this situation wouldn’t exist in the first place.

  24. InqAlpharious01 Avatar

To be truthful, George W. Bush had intention of bringing back Latin America back to Western industrial world if 9/11 never happened.

But even then a lot of investors would had made that impossible for corporate interests and mutual gridlocks between Western oligarchs and LATAM Elites oligarchs and other warlords. They have a far stronger pact than what those countries had in Asia and Africa. Pacts that are as ancient to the days of settler colonization of the Americas deep.

  25. mhfu_g Avatar

It’s pretty disgusting that they think of us as a backyard. It gives me the same vibes when people call Ukraine “Russias doorstep”. I think the best we can do as smaller countries is to try and play both sides of this as much as we can to take advantage of them (like they do us).

  26. thatbr03 Avatar

lol let them try, this is not the 20th century anymore if anything, like Russia invading Ukraine, recent years have shown the “great powers” are not that great anymore, the US has not nearly as much power as they had before

  27. Lutoures Avatar

Just shut up and build infrastructure for us, guys. Buy our products! It’s not that difficult to gain influence over us if they just do that.

  28. theaviationhistorian Avatar

They are doing everything they can to indirectly deliver LATAM to China on a cheaply ornate platter. Trump has been the best thing to Chinese hegemony within our current generations.

  29. ExoticPuppet Avatar

I mean, fuck him. US will never invest heavily like China does. US looks like that child that wants a toy so badly but don’t play with it when he have it.

Whether this asshole like it or not, China doesn’t treat us like shit. In fact, most of products that may not go to the US anymore because of tariffs might end up here. L for them.

US doesn’t invest in anything here but leaning politicians to dictatorship pro US, and that’s a disservice for any country. Suddenly the CCP becomes a problem anytime Americans go “you shouldn’t be pro China☝🏻🤓”.

That said, we should have chosen Huawei instead of Starlink 🙂

  30. teokymyadora Avatar

Their needs of self-affirmation is just an expression of their weakness.

  31. Investigator516 Avatar

They’re deporting LatAms but want LatAms.

  32. Estrelleta44 Avatar

Honestly id rather do business with the US than China. The US has skin in the game since we are so close to them…. anything bad they do to us would then also have a bad effect on them. China on the other hand can screw us up and be totally fine on the other side of the world.

Not saying we should totally cut them off tho, continue doing business and connections with China. Competition is good

  33. gabisort Avatar

That once again LATAM will find out the hard way why the United States is the greatest threat to democracy and freedom and human rights and humanity itself that LATAM has ever faced.

Once again they will steamroll us, and then 20 years later we will once again forget about it and blame each other.

Oh and by the way our president will happily betray every country in this continent for a shred of US approval.

  34. Superfan234 Avatar

The Audicity of that bitch. Trump 2 administration is trully peak phycos

  36. Obvious_Onion4020 Avatar

We’re still calling it backyard in 2025?

  37. MulatoMaranhense Avatar

It is refreshing to see them drop the mask of civility. If more people saw it and grew rebellious maybe this country would be better.

  38. TheRenegadeAeducan Avatar

Eh, that has always been the US stance on LATAN, no matter the administration. The biggest difference between Trump and the rest is that he has no tact and says these kinds of things overtly, but as far as policies are concerned, same shit. The US can fuck off as far as Im concerned, but since we are a mess that just means leaving the sphere of influence of one to fall into another’s, we need to get our shit together.

  39. caribbean_caramel Avatar

I feel that we need to follow the steps of Europe and unify like the EU. We need to pressure the politicians of our countries and make it happen. Together we can stand our ground and face common issues.

  40. mauricio_agg Avatar

Since 9-11 the United States left Latin America alone.

A proof of it was how the Free Trade Agreement for the Americas and the Trans Pacific Partnership never came into fruition and the USA never bothered about it.

  41. AmbrosiusAurelianusO Avatar

    Come and take it gringo

  42. skisandpoles Avatar

Taking it back by abandoning it?

  43. MoleLocus Avatar

Thank God the only Trump clone here in South America is the dumbass Milei and maybe Mr. “I Invade Embassys” Noboa. If bolsonaro had won he could influenced the elections of the entire region with US help. The yankies only speak in one tone and the tone is the big stick. They dont want partners, they want servants. The more weak and fractured the Latam is, more they’ll need the US to do do anything. That’s the entire point of the CIA! For gods sake

  44. OKCLD Avatar

Most of Latin America chose anyone but the US because being a banana Republic isn”t what they want.

  45. hivemind_disruptor Avatar

Unless they ready to get them weapons, there ain’t no coming back.

  46. Mammoth_Juice_6969 Avatar

If you think we’re your backyard, I dare you to come and take it.

  47. El_Taita_Salsa Avatar

Oh, I think this administration can fuck right off.

  48. assfacekenny Avatar

The Monroe doctrine is engrained in US society. This is why I believe in the dismantling of the US not only the government but as a nation. I say this as an American. It’s also funny to me how all the problems around the world are still the fault of a former president that hasn’t been one for a decade.

  49. elperuvian Avatar

I actually like that rhetoric, the traitorous right wing should get discredited, America is not a friend

  50. CalculatingMonkey Avatar

As an America I wish our foreign policy was more forward thinking because if we had invested y’all earlier on and helped your democracies we could’ve ended up with reliable and maybe even more powerful allies than anywhere else especially with shared cultures and such
