How did you decide whether to move past a low point in your relationship and stay, or leave? What happened and why did you make that decision?

I was the one that got broken up with, but i wish i had broken up with him earlier. I found out he had been lying to me about something deeply personal to me. He lied for a year and told me the truth only on christmas when he was drunk and then laughed about it. then said he only lied because he didn’t want to upset me with the truth. I think when it comes to something big like that, that you know is personal to the person and can massively impact a relationship intimacies, then it’s not always a case you can move past it. i should have taken a big step back then and asked for space to figure things out, i didn’t and our relationship definitely suffered for it. I think the best way is when something bad happens that hinders the trust in a relationship or the ability to rely on that person, contemplating and taking space is the way forward and you need time to realise if it’s something that’s even worth fixing
