[Parks and Rec] What does Ron think of figure skating?

r/

I can see him disliking the pageantry and emotional vibe- but then it is a competitive sport that takes strength and athleticism and dedication

What you think?

Wouldn’t he be against any sport since it doesn’t result in anything useful? And it often involves the government (p-toie) using people’s money on it.

"Straight down the middle. No hook, no spin, no fuss. Anything more and this becomes figure skating."

    Ron Swanson on bowling.

He doesn’t want to be involved in figure skating.

I think in general he would dislike any sport that involves judging rather than objective point scoring. He might appreciate the athleticism required for skating, but he is certainly not a fan of the sport

What a terrific way to ruin a hockey rink.

In pretty classic fashion, Ron would be opposed at first to the “newer” and “flashier” parts of the sport.

However, once you intrigue him into the history of figure skating, and how the level of athletics driving competitors to go from a double-axel to a quadruple-axel, and it will appeal to his Libertarian sensibilities of work vs reward.

The “most talented” skater would theoretically receive the “most recognition.”

Figure skating and Couples. But non of that artsy fartsy ’Ice Dancing’ with frou frou ruffles and sequins…talk about a waste of time….

His kids compete he starts crying, because in his internal dialogue, “I coulda been ICE FISHING!!!”
