When you think about it, people should be happier than they’ve ever been. We have a historically high standard of living, endless amenities, and all the information in the world at our fingertips. But people seem less satisfied than ever.
I think most people, myself included, are simple and creatures of habit. We like routines, predictability, and to shut our brain off so to speak. All of these options and constant information is too overwhelming. I just want to live plainly.
Yes, I understand that this is already a known thing called the Paradox of Choice, but people everywhere seem to think that we constantly need new and more things. There never seems to be any thought that less choices in what we have or consume would improve our outlook on the world. Or if there is a thought, there is no serious effort to change things to be this way.

have you thought about being a nun i think the church would love you
No one is stopping you from becoming Amish
Seems like that’s happening so you get it your way.
Choice overload is actually a thing. I can’t stand having to cycle through a million choices because I feel I have to invest time into each one.
Ok, so exactly how much choice should we have? How much freedom should we eliminate? I’m all for simple lifestyles, but if that’s what you desire it’s on you to seek that out. What about the people who love and exercise their freedoms regularly? Also, it’s not the choices that are the problem for most people, it’s the consequences of said choice that people find hard to live with. It’s a skill issue, simply get gud.

Five guys business model is based around this. Less choice means more customer satisfaction
Edt: It’s also why dating apps don’t have great success rates, to much choice means people move on quickly to the next profile.
Comrade, you are absolutely right. The people should have only one party to vote for, one channel to watch, and one truth to believe.

The choice is yours. I/we live simply. Even grocery shopping is fairly standard. Find what works, deviation why? To reward a duplicate? Makes zero sense which you point to.
Oops.
Choices bring consequences, good or bad.
When the number of choices narrow, then we’re in trouble.
Freedom should be reserved for a select few who deserve it
100% on board with this. Not only is it annoying, but it’s really wasteful. The sheer amounts of “slight” variations of the same exact thing sit on the shelves and end up thrown away.
This is plenty of words, but you’re not really saying anything. Yes, we have a lot of choices, but is that the cause of the lack of satisfaction? This seems like a really simplistic take with no real substance
Certainly is an unpopular opinion. Go ask the oppressed people in communist countries if they are happier without having to choose and letting their government dictate their life
My sister in law moved to Norway for a few years and when she moved back to the US was overwhelmed by the choices in the grocery story. Perhaps you would like Norway.
The good news is, freewill doesn’t exist so we actually have no choice at all.
