I think I want to leave him

r/

I (28f) am with John (29m) for the past 7 years, living together for 4. I work in a well-paying area but I don’t have any six figures salary yet… For more reasons that I can explain right now I entered the area relatively late receiving really bad. My partner, however, works as a freelance from home and I’m losing my mind.

He isn’t working since last year and doesn’t seem eager to qualificate himself any longer. We are passing though a rough patch financially since I’m working and having 2 part time jobs just to make ends meet – and barely. He doesn’t make much around the house and only began to do something than vacuum the floor after I exploded.

I’m getting really tired by the lack of ambition from his part. I’m doing an MBA, working my ass off and getting home to see chaos and someone needy (I’m pretty sure this is some type of lovebombing since he started when I started complaining though). He says that he misses me and my only answer is that I miss me too.

I want to travel, to have my own home decoured by me, advance in my career and I don’t see anything from him.

The whole point is: I don’t know were or how to begin. We have pets, a lot of stuff and I don’t know were to go, since my credit is obliterated by the acumulated bills that he helps to make but not to pay. I’m thinking in my mom’s but she lives far and always treats me like a child.

Your mom’s could be a temporary solution while you get things figured out. It sounds like you know what you want, you just need to make the leap. Tell him this isn’t working and that you’re moving out.

    Good luck!

I mean what is he good for? It doesn’t sound like the connection is there anymore and he’s not helping financially. You could basically do what you’re doing now and not have to pay the bills for two people. Does he even make enough to cover the extra in utilities he uses?
