Charli XCX needs to stop glamorising cocaine use

r/

I LOVED brat but I think all the songs and Charli’s attitude about glamorising a very dangerous drug is giving young people the wrong impression. She’s said absolutely nothing about safe use or harm reduction, she just glamorises it because “it’s edgy and brat” but chronic use can lead to heart problems, deviated septums, and a whole other myriad of problems.

Admittedly I never listened to much Charli before brat was released so I don’t really know if she was always like this, but her whole attitude towards cocaine and all the drug related song lyrics may lead to children wanting to try coke without knowing the consequences. It kinda reminds me of 2013 Miley Cyrus, remember she also glamorised drug use?

Just like all that other popular music that reminds you to drive safe, avoid firearms, don’t excessively gamble, and treat people you disagree with with respect.

Half of songs since the 60s have been about love, half about drugs. Even the ones about love are sometimes about drugs

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

The 80s would not have existed without it. It got soccer moms through the 90s after the secret back room stashes of disco biscuits ran out.
Of course, street pharmacists also pushed the H in the 90s too.

Every generation has its own disease, and preferred vices. Sometimes the old vices come back around in to fashion.

I don’t think people listen to music in search of life lessons.
