Burger King Whopper is the superior fast food burger

r/

People have a thing with hating on BK. We all know it’s superior. Grow up and admit it. Plus, when you burp after eating BK, it tastes the same. It’s like you eat it twice.

I disagree but respect your opinion

  3. s0cks_nz Avatar

Gonna assume in the US? I used to love BK in the UK, but moved to NZ and it’s garbage tier here.

  4. EpicSteak Avatar

It is good but the smoky burps suck.

  5. SuccessfulRing5425 Avatar

I get one of their impossible whoppers every week and always love them. I’ve been vegetarian for forever and the first time I had the impossible a couple years ago was unreal. It was the first fake meat that seemed 100% like actual meat to me (though I know others feel differently).

  6. TD-Eagles Avatar

You can’t beat the taste of a fresh whopper. Idk how they do it but god damn it’s delicious.

  7. alittlebitneverhurt Avatar

BK has absolutely no oversight of their franchises. Some are good and some are dog shit. The one by me is dog shit so I never have BK.

  8. OmNomChompsky Avatar

Depends on your local franchise. The one near me is hot garbage, but the one in the next town over tastea like the BK I remember from childhood.

I agree tho, a whopper is it’s own specific taste that no other fast food burger quite hits, and I happen to like it, lol.

  9. ForeignSleet Avatar

My local BK in the UK is absolutely awful, I have had some nice ones in other places though, I think it’s very hit or miss depending on the location, but when it hits, it HITS

  10. LugiaPizza Avatar

Their fries have always sucked, but their Onion Rings and Chicken Fries make up for it. If everything is done to standards, it’s hard to beat. Burger King has a horrible quality control. Their logistics are a mess. Their business is a mess and prob going bankrupt, but it’s not because their menu blows. They just don’t know to run a business.

  11. moffy001 Avatar

  14. rap31264 Avatar

I was raised on Whataburger and that will always be my fav but I do love that flame broiled once in a while…

  15. FredJenkins1414 Avatar

Burger King Denmark is gold. Whopper is amazing. I don’t think I’ve even had BK in the USA as I see that’s where you’re at in another comment here so I can’t compare.

  16. cellblok69wlamp Avatar

Have my upvote for being unpopular. My experiences with BK were pretty bad.

  17. BigDeuces Avatar

this is a really good unpopular opinion. i def agree that burger king burgers are slept on. the only problem i have with them is that their pickles (my favorite topping) literally taste like vomit to me

  18. Chubbygator847 Avatar

I definitely agree. But BurgerKing is way overpriced. Much rather get some delicious IN-N-OUT burger instead

  19. WinterWizard9497 Avatar

    Well, you are not wrong

  20. thebrassbeard Avatar

  21. gallan1 Avatar

Double Whopper with cheese. My favorite.

  22. Time-Improvement6653 Avatar

    Word. Flame-broiled rules.

But Harvey’s uses better beef. 😛

  23. parrisjd Avatar

Hear me out, but when Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr was in their peak thickburger era, that one on sourdough was my cure for everything. They still make it but it just isn’t the same.

  24. Dildo_Dan225 Avatar

Hard agree. Depends which BK in town tho.

  25. xxrambo45xx Avatar

Texas double whopper, best fast food burger no question

  26. wpotman Avatar

The Whopper is awesome. BK employees tend to be McDonalds rejects. It all depends on how much they ruin it.

  27. poopypants206 Avatar

Their regular chicken sandwich with cheese, onions, and tomato is the best thing they sell. It’s absolutely terrible for you but it’s so damn good. Too bad the tacos sucked compared to Jack in the boxes.

  28. AHardCockToSuck Avatar

    Impossible whopper is even better

  29. Intelligent_Pop1173 Avatar

I haven’t been to any fast food burger place in five or so years but remember their burgers are also noticeably bigger than McDonald’s burgers. Also the zesty sauce is a really good dipping sauce for onion rings. But last I was there the onion rings were slimy and greasy and not crispy like they used to be. The BK commercials are also so annoying and make me feel rage.

  30. Agile_Moment768 Avatar

A double whopper is gods gift to man.

  31. the_dark_viper Avatar

The problem with BK is that they are so inconsistent. Mcd’s has them on that and the fries when hot, but the flame-grilled burger is top notch, just the inconsistency is what kills BK.

  32. OneBudTwoBud Avatar

I’d say In-N-Out has them beat by a longshot, but I don’t have one near me so I have to agree 🥲

  33. BusyBeeBridgette Avatar

Typically I used to go to BK for the Burger and Maccy Ds for the Fries. But Five Guys, to me, has them both beat.

  34. brasscup Avatar

OP may live near an exceptionally good franchise operator.

I had a whopper once at a highway rest stop that I will remember forever it was so delicious but subsequent whoppers elsewhere didn’t come close to approaching that perfection.

(I had a similar experience at one Popeye Chicken location, also never to be replicated).

  35. Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir Avatar

When they’re good, they’re good. Especially in Europe. But in the U.S., when they’re bad, they are BOTTOM tier. Not that I really eat fast food anymore.

  36. typ31diab33tus Avatar

it’s actually their original chicken sandwich….but you know…whatever

  37. HologramsRCool Avatar

I love the whopper. It sits near the top for me. If Burger Kings quality was more consistent it could be at the top.

  38. Skellos Avatar

In my opinion, Burger King used to be decent, but they’ve been trash for like 20 years.

Maybe it’s just the ones near me and it’s a franchise owner thing.

  39. rumog Avatar

I agree with the whopper part 100%. I used to also wonder about the BK hate in general- but at this point I fully understand it. The quality of a lot of their other food, esp fries and chicken-based stuff has gone to shit, prices way too high, and every time I order it feels like a big hit or miss. In-person it’s always dirty, something is broken and employees don’t give a shit- or if it’s delivery the prices are even more insane for a hit and miss experience.

As much as a love a good whopper, I go there way less than I would if they hadn’t fallen off so hard.

  40. Chaos_Theology Avatar

“Go to the Wiz and select it
Take it off the rack, if it’s wack put it back
I like the Whopper, fxxk the Big Mac”.

  41. Bthetallone Avatar

Burger King is underrated in my opinion, for me though I just feel like they’re never conveniently located so it gets forgotten about. It’s a unique flavor, the charbroiled burger for me is solid. I love Burger King but understand there are plenty of plenty of people who don’t, and still it bothers me.

  42. mtwwtm Avatar

Best burger when I was growing up was Hardee’s and BK was a close second. Now? 🤷

  43. NickelCitySaint Avatar

I mean… Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock told us this years ago.
I like the whopper, flip the big mac

  44. sFAMINE Avatar

Not for the $10+ it costs with cheese

  45. tallanuncommfortable Avatar

    Pshht Harvey’s in Canada bud

  46. whogomz Avatar

    Burger King > McDonald

  47. Zark_Muckerberger Avatar

No. It’s better than McDonald’s, and it’s better than people give it credit for, but no way in hell is it the absolute best.

  48. ComfortablyNomNom Avatar

Honestly it’s probably the best right now. McDonalds has made their sandwiches so small and so expensive that the Whopper is a goddamn feast in comparison.

The Wendy’s that was near me closed years ago so I haven’t had them in years so I can’t speak on them.

Edit: I always go for the Texas double whopper when it’s available. Bacon and jalapeno and you usually get it freshly made because it’s more of a niche item I guess. They don’t have a bunch ready made.

  49. Evelyn-Bankhead Avatar

    Too sloppy for me

  50. shadowmonk13 Avatar

I’d agree if it’s fresh and from a franchise location that cares about quality. Nothing better than a whopper from a bk that’s as fresh as can be and from a store thats keen on quality

  51. RolandMT32 Avatar

I hadn’t really noticed hate for BK, but even though their Whopper is one of my favorite fast food burgers, sometimes I just crave another. Aside from the Whopper, I really like the Dave’s burger from Wendy’s, the Papa burger from A&W, etc. Also there are some good local/semi-local options near me that I like too (such as Burgerville). There’s an In-N-Out not terribly far from me which I’ve tried once, and I’d say I like it. Also I’ve had Whataburger once when I visited Texas, and I enjoyed that too.

  52. simplegdl Avatar

    It’s the heavy mayo

  53. Creepy_Cupcake3705 Avatar

Congrats on being unpopular. My local burger kings are eerily slow. I get diarrhea before leaving the parking lot.

  54. lovesriding Avatar

And tasting it twice is why I haven’t had one in 2 decades.

But to be fair, I don’t eat fast food anymore because why…..it cost just as much as a normal restaurant.

  55. Fists_full_of_beers Avatar

    100% agree with this

  56. NinjaBilly55 Avatar

Burger Kings biggest issue is consistency.. When fast food was cheap I’d gamble but not at today’s prices..

  57. MozeDad Avatar

I used to work at BK and can attest to the whoppers being fantastic.
My new fave is Carl’s jr.

  58. NudieNovakaine Avatar

Posting falsehoods in unpopular opinions is a tradition.

    BK is trash.

All fast food is trash. But BK is what other fast food companies throw out.

BK is the kind of shitty fast food that would spray paint grill marks onto their burger.

They’re the kind of trash that every other fast food restaurant could take a dump on, and it would only improve their flavor.

BK so nasty, if Karen was a flavor, it would be objectively better than anything BK regurgitates into this world.

  59. SvenBubbleman Avatar

Only if you haven’t eaten at Harvey’s or A&W

  60. AdulentTacoFan Avatar

Only when it is properly executed, in which case it’s #1.

  61. CruisinJo214 Avatar

I hate flame grilled burgers. Give me a flame grilled chicken sandwich from Cook Out anyday though.

  62. No-Wonder1139 Avatar

I definitely prefer Harvey’s as far as a standard burger goes. You get my upvote.

  63. PJRama1864 Avatar

There are tiers of fast food restaurants. Burger King is at the bottom of that totem pole and has been for at least a decade.

Any burger from Five Guys, for example, is vastly superior to the Whopper.

  64. New-Incident-9137 Avatar

    Wendys has the best burgers

  65. TheKeH20 Avatar

In india, never had a fast food beef burger but the chicken whopper sucks ass. The veggie potato whopper is better than their chicken. The big mac equivalent here way better than the whopper here.

  66. jeffvillone Avatar

The flame broiled burger is superior. Problem is BK service is terrible. You can’t get a whopper that wasn’t made an hour ago and microwaved to death.
My friends and I have a rating system for all fast food.
With McDonald’s, 1 out of 4 experiences tastes great. The other 2 are meh and the last 1 is shitty.
BK? 1 out of 7 is great. 2 or three are meh and the other 4 experiences are shitty.
The Great Whopper experience is nearly extinct.

  67. ExWebics Avatar

    Culver’s…. There’s no contest

  68. Colseldra Avatar

I don’t eat fast food often, but that’s one of the most inconsistent chains from what I remember.

Like the employees are shit and the food is bad asf a few times I went

  69. backpackmanboy Avatar

You should watch out for the preservatives they put in it. I think In-N-Out is one of the only or one of the few who doesn’t use preservatives, but I could be wrong.

  70. Effective_Pie_5723 Avatar

The smokehouse whopper that’s out now is by far my favorite. I dream of that burger.

  71. snaypowell Avatar

This is not unpopular over here. BK and that flamebroil is IT.

  72. c4gam1ng Avatar

If I go there I always get the Bacon King

  73. BAMspek Avatar

I’ve been to many Burger King franchises. They all seem to give just the shitty part of lettuce and just the butts of the tomatoes. Burger King could be good but every franchise sucks.

  74. pinniped90 Avatar

I haven’t been in a clean, well-staffed, competent Burger King since about 1997.

The one near me looks like it was last cleaned around that time.

  75. jackasssparrow Avatar

Idk man Wendy’s works the best for me

  76. noronto Avatar

Whether or not you like McDonalds obviously varies, but the Big Mac is a unique burger and it should be considered the superior burger for that simple fact.

  77. GlitteringFly1001 Avatar

I used to get the Junior Whopper. Something about Burger King DID make it superior.

  78. Keldrath Avatar

Then why do I always feel sick after eating one

  79. ludovic1313 Avatar

I like their burgers per se. Great taste especially for the price. I haven’t had one in a decade or so, though, because their sides all literally taste like cardboard. I am not being metaphorical. That’s the best description I can find for them.

  80. mauore11 Avatar

Late 90’s 99c whopper was the shit. I would buy two and put some cheese at home and buy 59c fries at McD. Peak fast food.

  81. MooreAveDad Avatar

    In order of greatness.

    1) – The Whopper

*(the restaurant has to be on point, some don’t get it right)

    2) – Arby’s Beef & Cheddar

*(admittedly, not a burger, add x-tra beef & copious Arby’s sauce)

    3) – McD’s Quarter Pounder

*(just an old reliable & goodness that delivers every time)

  82. Herkucheeze Avatar

If you want a big wet burger salad, then yeah.

  83. Bucksfan70 Avatar

I’m so hungry from reading this, I’m thinking about getting sone.

  84. TabmeisterGeneral Avatar

It’s a good build, the biggest problem is their meat is too dry, and the amount of care put into making the burgers is wildly inconsistent.

Burger King does great pickles though.

  85. caryn1477 Avatar

Definitely unpopular. The last time I had one my stomach hurt so bad after. It was swimming in mayonnaise.

  86. jjrr_qed Avatar

Wendy’s is much better. You’re embarrassing yourself.

  87. Alternative-Grade738 Avatar

When made properly, they are good.

BKs tomatoes have always been garbage though.

  88. all_opinions_matter Avatar

I love BK. I just never get to eat there since the closest one is 40 miles away

  89. vorlando9000 Avatar

Its too expensive for a fast food burger

  90. FinkBass420 Avatar

Hot patty on an ice cold bun with way too much sauce? I’ll pass thanks.

  91. marbleshoot Avatar

Agree on the burger, however, its too bad their fries suck.

  92. Extra-Act-801 Avatar

    Carls Junior is far superior.

  93. gizeon Avatar

Around here mate, we call it Hungry Jack’s.

  94. jd3marco Avatar

At BK, I do not like the way the cheese is added after. It doesn’t melt or they microwave the whole thing and it gets fucked up. At the one’s I’ve tried, anyway. Also, mayo is added by default and that is risky…sometimes they add 3x what should be on a burger (if added at all). That said, whopper no cheese and no mayo is usually pretty damn good.

  95. Forumites000 Avatar

Yeah, I agree. It’s what I think a fast food burger would look and tastes like. I order it from time to time.

  96. Cold_Tower_2215 Avatar

Better than McDonald’s, but worse than Culver’s

  97. mangosteenfruit Avatar

I tried the whopper for the first time last year.

    It was delicious.

  98. thatkilliankid Avatar

Their onion rings are better than their french fries

  99. Alucard661 Avatar

I love Burger King unironically, but god no it’s not lol

  103. ThomasDePraetere Avatar

That’s because you never had a Bicky Burger.

  104. Jazzlike_Penalty5722 Avatar

Nope. I’m down for the Big Mac

  105. Spurdlings Avatar

    Nope.

    Feces on a bun.

    Whataburger rules.

  106. BeelzeBob629 Avatar

I’d agree, except I don’t remember the last time I got a Whopper on a bun that wasn’t eight years old.

  107. Parallax-Jack Avatar

Every BK I’ve seen is either out of business, or looks like it’s out of business. Don’t even know where an operating one is located

  108. JuliusSeizuresalad Avatar

This is true if your only counting the majors chains. It slays McDonald’s Wendy’s and jack in the box. They are consistent and delicious. Now the good mom and pop places are better but Burger King is still a great place

  109. Bigbigjeffy Avatar

The BEST burgers I’ve had recently have all came from Food trucks

  110. JJP3641 Avatar

    Yeah in 1994.

  111. jtp_311 Avatar

Nah Burger Kings are all trash around me. In-N-Out is the top.

  112. NickU252 Avatar

The fucking onions are so mixed. It’s either a nice slice, or a fat half an onion that pulls out of the burger when you bite.

  113. HussingtonHat Avatar

BK is….pretty shite. Burgers aren’t that great and the fry game is woeful.

  114. Skittilybop Avatar

BK is a very inconsistent fast food brand, but when you get a good Whopper I 100% agree.

  115. musicbeats88 Avatar

I agree 100%. It has such a bad name in fast food. But every time I go there I’m amazed. I don’t know where the hate stems from

  116. Adampro123 Avatar

I love me some Burger King. My issue is whenever I eat it I get such bad indigestion for the rest of the day. So I know if I eat it I’ll be suffering. Anyone have any tips for that?

  117. markhasnodad Avatar

BK is superior to McDonald’s. BK is NOT superior to Sonic or Culver’s.

  118. JackHughman69 Avatar

Yeah always liked BK a lot more than McDonald’s tbh. Better burgers, better fries, ice cream machine actually works, etc. Not that I eat fast food too often but I’d always prefer BK over McDonald’s and it has always been that way. Especially since they changed up their fries back in the day, those things are delicious imo.

  119. cg12983 Avatar

It used to be. All the BKs (3) in my town closed and when I’ve tried Whoppers on the road the quality has been terrible.

A good Whopper beats a good Big Mac by a mile, but I can get a good Big Mac almost always, but a good Whopper is sadly rare. So inconsistent.

  120. Whateverwillido2 Avatar

I secretly like BK 😂 my entire friend group treats it like it’s nightmare British food and I pretend to agree but I’ll eat a whopper over a Big Mac any day

  121. goodfood_mehplating Avatar

I’ve never understood why so many people shit so hard on Burger king. Of the old school fast food places it’s probably my favorite place to actually get a burger that I want it to taste like a burger. Sometimes I want a Big Mac, but I don’t consider that a burger. It doesn’t even taste like a burger. It tastes like a Big Mac. But a Whopper tastes like a burger. Nothing at Wendy’s tastes like a burger. I don’t care if they never freeze anything, it tastes like ass.

  122. hamptii Avatar

    If you like no flavor.

  123. MaxyBrwn_21 Avatar

The whopper is fine but it’s not even a top 5 fast food burger where I live.

  127. MaximumEmpty6868 Avatar

Burger King in Thailand used to serve something called a New York Steakburger. It was the best sandwich I have ever tasted! They discontinued it for some reason though.

  128. granolaraisin Avatar

I used to be in this camp but I had my fist whopper in more than a decade the other day and it seems like BK really leaned into the grilled flavor in their burgers by introducing a bit of artificial smoke/char flavor or something. It was a bit off putting.

  129. cramirez1988 Avatar

I don’t know how to describe BK other than the meat tastes gray.

  130. MetalTrek1 Avatar

I always preferred BK and Wendy’s over McDonald’s.

  131. Redditcadmonkey Avatar

Now that is an unpopular opinion.
