What if Dwight Eisenhower was a us navy officer ?

r/

So we know ike Eisenhower (president and former 5 star general of the army) was in the army for his career

He actually wanted to go to the navy academy but he was 1 year too old. So had to go to west point instead

I wonder what if Eisenhower applied and went to the navy academy 1 year earlier.
So he graduated from Annapolis and is now a navy officer.

So do you think he would still be able to make his meteoric ascension in the navy like in the original timeline or what’s the highest rank you think ensign Eisenhower would get in the navy ? He gets to be in the navy from 1910 to say 1946 in this scenarios

What do you think?

Maybe Eisenhow becomes Admiral Chester Nimitz in this timeline and European war would be led by General Douglas MacArthur instead. That could be interesting to see what a role reversal between them would be like, since MacArthur advocated for open use of nuclear weapons during the Korean War.

He would have built canals instead of interstates

    It is impossible to tell.

What happens if Ike had tripped fallen and broke his leg when in high school. Maybe that would have made him read more and changed his entire personality.

What if he has met the right woman while a freshmen at the Naval academy or the wrong officer? Maybe he drops out of school and becomes a mechanic.
