I don’t know how people forgot this, but a Trump presidency M.O. is to continuously have a bunch of outrageous scandals, on after the other, so that people will lose track of all the shit he’s doing and he’ll never face the consequences. Signal-gate has been forgotten because he broke global trade with the tariffs, then him breaking global trade is being forgotten because he’s threatening to send U.S. citizens to his camps in El Salvador, it’s gonna be something else next week, something else the week after…
I don’t think it’s been forgotten, but for anything to happen would require the GOP (either the administration or Congress, which controls both houses right now) to care. And they do not have any interest in doing anything about it right now.

In order to actually do anything you have to prove a crime was committed and that takes time. Whether or not classified information was illegally disclosed in the chat and proving that isn’t as simple as some Democratic congressman or MSNBC saying it happened.
Just like Hillary Clinton, Biden, and Trump’s mishandling of classified info, nobody important is ever punished for this kind of thing. They should be, but for some reason this seems to be the kind of thing that gets swept under the rug and disregarded once the next big thing happens.
The worst part about this is the complete lack of concern when “my team” does it and the fury when “the other team” does it. This should be absolutely appalling and worthy of punishment regardless of the political affiliation of who does it, but we’ve spent the last 9 years acting like it’s wrong if Blue Politician does it then being totally okay with Red Politician doing it (and vice versa).
>Donald Trump’s national security adviser Mike Waltz included [journalist Jeffrye Goldberg] in the Signal group chat about plans for US strikes in Yemen after Waltz mistakenly saved Goldberg’ number months before under the contact of someone else he intended to add, according to three people briefed on the matter. …
>Goldberg had emailed the campaign about a story that criticized Trump for his attitude towards wounded service members. To push back against the story, the campaign enlisted the help of Waltz, their national security surrogate.
>Goldberg’s email was forwarded to then Trump spokesperson Brian Hughes, who then copied and pasted the content of the email – including the signature block with Goldberg’s phone number – into a text message that he sent to Waltz, so that he could be briefed on the forthcoming story.
>Waltz did not ultimately call Goldberg, the people said, but in an extraordinary twist, inadvertently ended up saving Goldberg’s number in his iPhone – under the contact card for Hughes, now the spokesperson for the national security council. …
>[Goldberg’s number] was erroneously saved during a “contact suggestion update” by Waltz’s iPhone, which one person described as the function where an iPhone algorithm adds a previously unknown number to an existing contact that it detects may be related.
>The mistake went unnoticed until last month when Waltz sought to add Hughes to the Signal group chat – but ended up adding Goldberg’s number to the 13 March message chain named “Houthi PC small group”, where several top US officials discussed plans for strikes against the Houthis. …
>Waltz also appears to have also engendered some sympathy from inside Trump’s orbit over the group chat because the White House had authorized the use of Signal, largely because there is no alternative platform to text in real time across different agencies, two people familiar with the matter said.
>Previous administrations, including the Biden White House, did not develop an alternative platform to Signal, one of the people said. As a temporary solution, the Trump White House told officials to use Signal as they had done during the transition instead of regular text-message chains.
News stories today about the plans disappearing from the CIA director’s phone, so it’s still popping up. The biggest struggle is that Republicans control both chambers of Congress and have no incentive to address it.

I feel like it’s going to be that way for another 4 years.

This is how Trump works, and it’s exactly like laat time- outrageous scandal, covered extensively, right up until the next outrageous scandal.
It makes people want to just tune it out, and ignore how god-awful he is.

If you have to ask the question why nobody is talking about it anymore, you probably aren’t paying attention to current events unfolding in real time.
Nothing is being done and nothing will be done.

The rules are made up and the points don’t matter

It’s the scandal mill. Before anything can be done, they commit a new crime/atrocity and the press move on to the next story. Rinse. Repeat.

There are countless Trump controversies that people just breeze past because they are used to it.
We are the frog in the slow to boil pot. The water is bubbling.
Biden admin had used Signal after it was approved for use years ago. There is no there there as far as scandal.
My only hope is that the next president is a Democrat and they will appoint Jack Smith as the Attorney General.
the news was reporting two people were placed on administrative leave and escorted out of the Pentagon today in relation to it.
