cats groom themselves every day. dogs dont really do that.

It’s the skin oils – when cats groom, they’re not washing themselves with their saliva as much as they’re spreading and combing their skin oils into their fur.

So cats actually have an odor neutralizing enzyme in their saliva that makes their coats smell well, odor neutral for hunting purposes. Even though their breath stinks terribly, their fur smells absolutely delightful and picks up all the natural odors around them.

Because cats are divine creatures while dogs are big fuckin doofuses /s

It propably has something to do with the fact that cats clean themselves more thoroughly simply because more smell equals more detection by prey, especially if you consider that cats are rather solitary animals compared to dogs, where pack hunting success outweighs
the smell of an individual animal affecting the hunt.

Don’t take my word for it though, this is slighty beyond my expertise.

I have a cat that smells better than the best “outdoor breeze/mountain air” freshener there is.

Seriously, he just smells that good.

Am I the only one who thinks cats smell like cat food?

One of my cats smells ever so slightly like romano cheese, but only when I get my nose right in there. My other cat doesn’t let me smell him lol
