DAE tense up their whole body for a split second to get themselves to move

r/

I tried searching for this but couldn’t really find anything

Occasionally I will be sat or lying down (often watching TV or on my phone) and even though I know I can move it will feel like I can’t and the more I think about moving the more it feels like I can’t move and eventually to stop it I will have to tense up my whole body for a split second or move suddenly to snap out of it

Anyone else experience this?

That sounds like a wild feeling. I totally get it, though. Sometimes when I’m in a really comfy spot on the couch and have been binge-watching for a while, I almost feel like I’m part of the furniture. It’s like I know I need to get up and maybe do something productive or grab a snack, but my body just isn’t on the same page. It’s like I’m in a trance or something. I’ve never consciously tensed up my whole body, but I might do a quick shake or just stand up really fast to break out of that zone. It’s like playing a little trick on your brain to snap back to reality. Now you got me curious if it’s more common than I think. I’ll probably end up going down a rabbit hole looking into this, but hey, it’s interesting stuff, right?
