Why is there no multibillion porn/OF industry in Africa?

r/

Porn is probably one of the easiest way to gain access to higher wages in such countries. Why there doesn’t seem to be too many of it?

    How is this morbid?

western and asian porn industries already dominate, many african consumers simply watch foreign content which reduces the demand for a local industry and there r legal restrictions as well

Simply put, the economy in most African countries is better than in the west. North America has a bigger OF industry because more people need to rely on sex work for income, which is less common when you live somewhere with a better cost of living vs income ratio. It’s probably also just cultural. NA consumes a lot of porn.

EDIT: Here come the pissed off Americans that can’t stand knowing they’re worse off than the countries they get fed propoganda about lmao.

Dumb question but what is OF?

Depending on where in Africa you’re looking – since it’s a huge ass continent with very different countries – you’d run into issues with internet and electricity availability, as well as access to technology to view/film. Cultural attitudes around how women are expected to behave/what’s acceptable in terms of sexuality would also be something to factor in

I see numerous African people on Chaturbate, but taking your point as truth, I could only imagine how difficult decent internet connection can be without strong infrastructure. I know that Internet cafes are fairly common but you can’t necessary go full frontal in that environment.

I feel like it’s because Africa is poor so no point in focusing on them. They also have traditional values so most won’t watch porn. Due to their values they will also be less inclined to become porn actors do to morals/shame/repercussions. Very similar to Middle East.

African women are also the least desired women so it won’t cater to the rest of the world either. Americans also are big players in the porn industry so they can provide black porn.

Because of religious and cultural views on sex and gender. 40% of Africa is Muslim, many African states still hold more traditional views on marriage, sex and gender, so pornography is still a taboo that is consumed in secret.

    go start it soldier

I guess the ones getting into porn/of move into other parts of the world where you can do "better porn/of". Better in way of saying being able to collab with others and getting into events and so on.

Doing it infront of the camera is one thing. But being successful depends on the surrounding/ off camera stuff aswell.

Edit: of course accessibility and social values and norms play a role aswell

I bet the African money people want to watch the whites.

The morbid thing here is OP thinking the majority of people who do porn make “higher wages” off it.
Boy most of the people you jerk off to are trafficked.

Because dark skinned women are the least desirable demographic of women. At least according to data from dating apps.

Damn what an interesting question, genuinely no clue

    Who’s to say there’s not?

Good question. Because IIRC there is in Brazil and there’s a lot of poverty there too.

Honestly I think it’s because there’s less privacy and a lower threshold for physical censure.

If your neighbors find out they might do something about it.

    Permanently.

In North Africa, for example, this act leads to imprisonment and very strict legal penalties, as if you were a terrorist, and social ostracism for the rest of your life. Even the countries are not listed, so creating content requires a VPN and opening an account from another country. Not to mention the religious extremism there, honor killings, and traditional upbringing. All of these are deterrents.

    Another possible culprit? HIV/AIDS.

The spread, there, by the measures of much of the rest of the world, is still somewhat unmitigated, and though access to treatment and education have both improved, Africa is still, by far, the center of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, if we can still call it that.

This is probably less a factor than access, internet, things like that, but I can imagine that it’s in-play. Maybe this is me having too much faith in humanity, but maybe there have been opportunities for people in the industry to take root in Africa and, for reasons such as this and the others named here, perhaps it was thought more responsible to not, although it could have just as easily been seen as not profitable.

Half of Africa were Muslims and the other half were conservative Christians. Tell me, what do you think would happened with porn/OF actors/actresses the moment they do that?

  20. stink_bug92 Avatar

There is. It’s just more localized and not on porn hub. There is a huge market for it, I actually just heard a story about it on NPR like last week. Women and girls creating videos on Tik Tok and other apps, dancing, strip teases, etc, and then going into private chats with people paying more, and often pimps organizing in person meet ups.
