I paid to chat with a creator on a content platform for several months. She advertised the interaction as personal and direct — things like “Let’s chat!”, “I reply when I’m not creating content”, and similar phrases were used on her page and social media.
We chatted almost daily. It felt personal, sometimes playful, sometimes thoughtful. I never expected romance — just honest, human interaction.
But over time, I noticed strange shifts in tone, memory lapses, contradictions. Eventually, I realized I was probably talking to a team or agency — not her.
There was no warning, no disclosure, no hint that the experience wasn’t what it claimed to be.
Now I feel weird about it. I know it was transactional. I know it’s “just the internet.” But still — it felt like a breach of trust.
Is that feeling valid? Or is this just how these things work now?

It can be both, my man. Does it be what it do? Yes. Does it suck that it happens? Yes.
Keep it a buck with you most people don’t give a shit about you and businesses, online influencers and celebs really only care about money. This is reality and I’m sorry if that’s abrupt but it’s the truth and how I perceive the world since I was a child.
I’m sorry you feel that way, but just move on. I recommend not paying for stuff like that because most of the time it’s just then taking your money. Build meaningful relationships in real life, find someone you can trust, work on yourself and be a better you.
Was this a fansly/onlyfans/justforfans etc creator? Even if it wasn’t, chatting with influencers can be a pretty risky game because there’s a strong chance you can develop a parasocial attachment to this person. When you’re paying to do so, you’re also making yourself vulnerable.
