I always thought the American system was slightly better since u guts get to be in diffrrnt class and diffrent rooms instead of thr same room with the same group of people cuz that’s what it’s like where I’m from.
Are all the school shootings, drugs, bomb threats, fights, pedos, and other wild stuff happen often or are quite exaggerated like is it more a stereotype or a legit concern

Dude there’s over 26 thousand high schools in the US.
It depends heavily on where you’re from.
It very much varies by community in terms of how many threats the school faces on a regular basis.
I went to school in New York City, New Jersey, Louisiana and North Carolina and never had any issues like that at any of my schools.
They do lock down the schools here if there is any criminal activity in the area as a safety precaution, and that does happen more frequently.
In my home state of California, near San Francisco in my middle class high school, there were few drugs, little to no fights, and only a few pedophiles in the school. Nothing like Class of 09 or anything. The culture may be different out East of the Mississippi.
It is very likely very exaggerated, but I don’t know what you are seeing and from which sources.
As an example, I come from a basically working class town. It is extremely safe (and my sister is a cop, so I have a pretty good idea). No school shootings. Bomb threats?!?
Anyway, yes, you’ll get some drug use among school kids in our area. Typically not heavy stuff. There are some fights but nothing too crazy. And this situation would be the same for the surrounding several towns at least.
One thing maybe to think about is that there is big difference in dense, urban environments in the US but having said that much of the US is not urban which is very different from places like in Asia for instance.
Would you like to rewrite your first
parentingparagraph (see everyone needs an editor!) to make it readable, so we can try to answer?I’ve never been a student or a teacher in a school with any shooting, though my Utah high school was put on lockdown for a few hours in 1999 because somebody called the cops on a random truck several blocks away.
I’m sure most high schools regardless of income have some amount of drugs and fights. I don’t know a single person who has experience with a school shooting or bomb threats or is seriously concerned about it. From what I’ve seen and heard, pedos are more of a concern online than in a school
Low income schools usually mean there is a lack of resources. Meaning high number of students in classroom, rundown books or other school materials, maybe lower paid newer teachers with less experience… etc etc compared to high income schools public or privately who have the opposite.
My low income serving schools did have fights and drugs. No drugs in elementary/primary school, but definitely fights. I think this is pretty common.
The gun violence is something that happens in all types of schools. And is becoming more and more of a concern to average school aged Americans here.
It really depends on the school. I went to a few public schools, one of them a girl went home after a breakup and put a shotgun in her mouth, pulled the trigger.
Another friend of mine shot himself but a few years after high school, he was 22.
Besides that, there was drugs before, but now it’s crazy bad with fentanyl being in everything and so cheap, like $2 or $3 for something that can kill people randomly from uncontrolled strength.
Switching classes and rooms and having teachers who specialize in different subjects is nice though, had some teachers who were very good and kind people who loved their subjects. It is a good system by the fundamentals.
One school had a 1/4 mile hallway, so if your locker was on one part, or classes were far apart, you’d *RUN* to the other side with your 5 min between time.
One school I had an hr long free period after lunch and used it to wander off campus to smoke weed.
Really though, the system has a lot of quality points which are underutilized. The school administration and principals make a big difference on if the teachers are allowed to do a good job in a lot of ways.
Whatever challenges you have, trust the future holds great potential. Wishing you a great future.
I’m sure it varies, but I went to school in a slightly poor district and hardly ever experienced any of that. I saw a couple fights where no one was armed or seriously hurt and one gun scare that turned out to be a false alarm. Some people did drugs, but mostly weed and not at school—didn’t really affect me. That’s about it.
