I mean the entire thing is pretty horrific and dystopic, but for this specific fact Bukele is doing what the Head of State of another government is asking him to do.

Unless El Salvador Judiciary proclaims otherwise, it wouldn’t make much sense for him to do what the SCOTUS said that the POTUS should facilitate

  2. mouaragon Avatar

    Can’t return a corpse.

  3. Hal_9000_DT Avatar

OF course he won’t. First, there’s a big chance that he’s already dead. And if not, he cannot be sent back to tell the human rights violations that are happening there. It’s straight up a concentration camp.

  4. clase-azul Avatar

El Salvador is USA’s garbage dump.

  5. Nagito_ama_o_erwin Avatar

Of course he won’t, this guy must have been dead for days

  6. Awkward-Hulk Avatar

That’s the kind of thing you take to the ICC. Too bad that the US is not a signatory… El Salvador is though.

  7. AliciaCopia Avatar

That he is a bitch and Trump is his daddy

  8. Obama_prismIsntReal Avatar

Two brain dead imbeciles playing around with human life. story of mankind, I guess

  9. Large_Feature_6736 Avatar

Rubio said they don’t have to because he’s from el salvador originally anyway.

  10. Guachito Avatar

Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s dead. If you look up the detention center in google maps, you can see one of the buildings in the Roth side of the complex with a pile of what could be bodies next to a huge pool or red liquid stain on the floor. Looks like German extermination camps.

  11. HzPips Avatar

Can’t expect much of the guy that turned his country into a penal colony for a couple bucks

  12. gabisort Avatar

oh my god the right wing authoritarian psycho doing right wing authoritarian psycho things? who would’ve thought!!

  13. Ponchorello7 Avatar

Recently, I saw a post of a satellite view of the Salvadoran megaprison, and what looked like an execution site. I think this guy is dead, and that’s why Trump and Bukele are resisting his return so much. So… this is the kind of leadership people say Mexico needs? Yeah, no thanks.

  14. RobesPi3rre Avatar

The US government lets Israel kill US citizens without a word, so you really think they care what Bukakele does to this guy?

  15. wiggert Avatar

    >The survey also reveals that Brazil has one of the highest numbers of people detained without a conviction: 268,438 pre-trial detainees, which represents 34.7% of the national prison population.
    https://www.conectas.org/en/noticias/brazil-still-has-worlds-3rd-largest-prison-population/

Brazil’s prison system also is a nightmare so I don’t feel any more outraged about that then I already feel about my own reality in my country.

  16. vtuber_fan11 Avatar

El Salvador is a banana republic.

  17. catsoncrack420 Avatar

Interesting, cause it solves Trump’s problem with the Court ruling that mandates he be brought back, so he dodged another bullet from the court for now. So I’m pretty sure 99% that Trump told him to say that.

  18. The_Flying_Failsons Avatar

Not great. It’s no surprise though.

  19. AccomplishedFan6807 Avatar

I hope we get to see them spend the rest of their lives together in a prison in South Sudan

  20. vicmumu Avatar

used to support him, not anymore.

The USA is a joke lmao, not even their slave labour camps obbey then

  22. Overall_Chemical_889 Avatar

He is showing to whaat he have come.

  23. deliranteenguarani Avatar

Well, no surprise, Bukele has things to praise, and hes a good thing for ES and has done a lot regarding general security and public safety

    HOWEVER

He still is an authoritarian leader, no denying that

The most important of this shit is the fact that the US is currently already in a constitutional crisis as the Executive Branch is having a standoff with the Judiciary:

Kilmar Abrego Garcia was mistakenly deported. In a tense hearing, DOJ wouldn’t say where he is. What happens next? | CNN Politics

For those not following the story, here are the key facts:

    1. Garcia, a legal migrant from Venezuela, was kidnapped and deported to a gulag in El Salvador without any kind of due process. This is already super illegal.
    2. The Trump admin, being cartoonishly incompetent, accidentally admitted that Garcia’s deportation was an “administrative error”.
    3. Judge Xinis immediately ordered the Trump Justice Dept to repatriate Garcia.
    4. The Justice Dept insists that they can’t do that because El Salvador has Garcia now. This is an obvious lie because El Salvador is a US vassal state.
    5. In record time, the Supreme Court ruled 9 to 0 that the Justice Dept needs to bring Garcia back.
    6. The Justice Dept continues to ignore the order.
    7. Xinis is now within her full rights to call up US Marshals to physically force the Justice Dept to comply. There’s on small problem: the US Marshals technically answer to the Justice Dept

All depends now of Judge Xinis. She has ordered the Justice Dept to provide her with daily updates on what they are doing to get Garcia back. The Justice Dept has refused, and sent a lawyer who claims that he personally does not know anything. The next and only step for Xinis is to call the US Marshals. At that point, the guns will be drawn. The question now is, why on earth would not the dept of justice release Garcia, i think there is probably 2 answers, both make me wanna vomit:

    1. Garcia is already dead. He along with the 200 others were secretly executed shortly after arrival in El Salvador.
    2. Garcia has been viciously tortured, and if he’s allowed back in the US, he will alert the media to the horrors of the El Salvadoran gulag that Trump plans to send more political prisoners to
  25. Proof-Pollution454 Avatar

It’s awful. Just goes to show you who Bukele really is

  26. Significant_Art_3736 Avatar

What I find even sadder is that Trump has record high approval ratings with Latinos in the US and yes I believe this poll is real. Just talk to the average Latino in Texas, Florida and sadly even California now and you’ll see.

  27. breadexpert69 Avatar

Seems like a hostage situation to me

  28. D7w Avatar

    He is dead already.
That’s why they won’t bring him back.

  29. Kroggol Avatar

That’s how the far-right operates: forging criminality to sell incarceration and “safety”. It’s never a fight “against the crime”, but against who they think that are criminals. That’s why you never see a church pastor or a tycoon in jail.

  30. Superfan234 Avatar

Bukele speerunning to become Fujimori 2.0

  31. EngiNerd25 Avatar

Technically, Bukele has no power to release him and it is El Salvador’s judiciary who have to make the decision, from what i was reading.

The US cannot force a sovereign nation to cooperate, so lets hope its just a matter of El Salvador’s judiciary having time to process him.

The huge mess-up is that Bukele had already labeled him a “terrorist” so this leaves a huge stain on his credibility and he will be seen a US puppet rather than a righteous authoritarian that he likes to portray himself as.

  32. fromtheriver Avatar

That El Salvador will have another rebellion. Awful that this would likely be their 3rd one.

  33. RSJ_95 Avatar

I’ve always been ambivalent about Bukele but this just definitive proof that he’s a piece of shit. Fuck him.

  34. MoleLocus Avatar

Two idiots wannabe dictators, the difference is the age

  35. StrategicGlowUp Avatar

At the very least he should let the man go free in el Salvador, he wasn’t convicted of any crimes.

  36. ExoticPuppet Avatar

That’s scary af. Being an immigrant in the US or crossing their borders were never that life risking. People would usually be deported back to their country of origin and period, but be sent to El Salvador is definitely off the charts.

  37. Efficient_Role_7772 Avatar

I think he’s in a position in which he cannot defy Trump. If Trump doesn’t get him back, I’d say there’s little Bukele could do.

That said, I think Bukele taking in foreign prisoners is some evil shit.

  38. THIS_IS_SO_HILARIOUS Avatar

He probably got killed, so I support full sanction on El Salvador after Trump leaves. Bukele will pay for his crime.

  39. doroteoaran Avatar

In the 1st place he shouldn’t be deported there.

  40. lawnderl Avatar

That he’s a fucking human barf posing as an imparcial leader. He’s evil.

  41. mendokusei15 Avatar

    It’s insane.

We told the goddam Bukele boot lickers that this was going downhill. That this populist speech has already been done. That it always ends badly. They yelled that we were protecting criminals. And here we are, all masks off. Who is protecting criminals now? Bukele is a dictator, El Salvador is a joke where the rule of law died and everybody cheered.

And no, we don’t need a Bukele. If you want so badly to shove Bukele up your ass, you are 100% free to do so going to El Salvador. Shove it up your own ass.

  42. caribbean_caramel Avatar

    I am not surprised.

  43. theaviationhistorian Avatar

As a US citizen, I say, don’t visit this country. Right now Trump toyed with the concept of sending anyone here to the Salvadorean gulags, so play it safe.

If Abrego is still alive, he’s likely a witness to crimes against humanity. And fascists despise witnesses.

  44. Formerly_SgtPepe Avatar

He was obviously asked by the White House to refuse, most likely via illegal cables or forms of communication.

Clear case of corruption, Bukele is doing it because it benefits him and his country, not to help Americans or because it is the right thing to do.

  45. KainDulac Avatar

The USA finally did it. From putting dictators in a lot of our countries they are finally setting one in their.

  46. darkbowserr Avatar

    Lost my respect for Bukele

  47. chctoons9320 Avatar

Now at least most people will realize that Bukele is not the mighty incorruptible savior everybody’s used to think.

  48. iLikeRgg Avatar

  52. bobux-man Avatar

I know someone who is planning to visit the US this year and I fear for them.

  53. Chaoswind2 Avatar

He is doing what his boss asked him to do… will be funny when it turns out that they are actually killing people.

  54. Stevedominicraftih Avatar

That man is 86% certaintly dead, unless said otherwise, im not sorry but i def had my suspects over Bukele methods before and this is saying enough, El Salvador needs an ONU intervention ASAP and monitore these slave camps for human trafficking and violation of humans rights, there needs to be an moviment to address this absolute shit.

  55. Corronchilejano Avatar

Looks at the United States population.

“You’d best start believing in banana republics. You’re in one.

  56. Traditional-Area-277 Avatar

Bukele did what El Salvador needed but he committed big mistakes and crimes against humanity that are unforgivable.

The stupid quotas they have on the police force that lead to loads of innocent people being arrested, the utilization of slave labor on prisons, crypto shit and now literally running concentration camps for the USA.

  57. FrozenHuE Avatar

Isn’t it a really good excuse to get rid of undesired people, deny basic rights and all bullshit that dictatorships do?

Trump just needs to deport by “mistake” some political enemy and puff… it is gone forever.

  58. serenwipiti Avatar

It’s absolutely fucked up and high-key terrifying.

  59. ElleWulf Avatar

He’s either in a terrible physical condition, or outright dead.

  60. issabreakfastburrito Avatar
