Would you do a give a ticket whilst a traffic stop to a police or first responder staff? I know the by-the-book answer is yes since no one is above the law. But let’s be real, would you ticket your colleagues over something like an improper stop at a stop sign.
Would you ticket a LE worker?

A ticket? No. I have, however, arrested first responders for other offenses.
I don’t ticket most people regardless of profession, unless they’re consistently bad drivers.
How bad is the infraction? As a beat cop I’d stop 10 cars before writing a ticket.
As a trooper 1 in 3 were probably warnings when not hunting for drunks.
I’ve written a cop (that I know of) at least once for speed.
We’ve had some officers recently ticket some off duty officers from a large neighboring city recently. Only because they’ve been real aholes on the stop. They immediately pull the race card and say they were stopped bc of their skin color, despite the tag that expired two years ago, the 95 in a 70, etc.
For minor things, no. DWI your ass is going to jail.
I’ve been ticketed by cops because I don’t tell them I’m a cop. I’ve always thought it was icky playing that card when off duty.
One of the battalion chiefs for a neighboring city was booked on OWI knowing good and well when my PD was doing drunk stop points.
Prosecutor’s office assistant prosecutor was booked for wreckless driving after making an officer follow them 2 miles home so “they felt safe” after doing 75 in a 30.
stupid comes in all sizes, shapes, and colors.
Depends. If I would normally let someone go with a warning they get a warning. If I’d normally write a ticket, they get a ticket. Because professional courtesy isn’t shitting in my lawn.
I have pulled over a few and when I walked up to the window, they immediately had their badges out. I said that’s not an excuse for speeding and that they should know better. Still asked for their license, registration and insurance. They didn’t get tickets, but I rarely cited anyone for moving violations unless they were just complete assholes about it.
I was pulled over in my patrol car, in uniform one time by a neighboring jurisdiction. Granted I was doin about 10 over, but I got the same speal about knowing better and let off with a verbal 😬
I don’t write a lot of tickets so it is unlikely, but there are situations I would. But worse than the ticket I would likely attempt to contact their department and a superior if available. But you typically have to be doing something real stupid or repeatedly being a problem before I would cite anyways and at that point not only did they earn a ticket but their department needs to know about it.
We have cited and kicked officers out of the campground I work at. They are at a higher standard to follow the rules, not get shit faced drunk and not to poke rangers in the chest. The park manager also called their boss and told him about their behavior at the park and from what it sounded like there were going to be some repercussions when they got back to work. Rule #1 don’t identify yourself as an officer of (blank) city when you are acting like a drunken jackass.
DUI arrested a state trooper from a neighboring post. Not only is DUI nonnegotiable for me, but cops know the consequences of intoxicated driving more than most. No excuse, no mercy.
But for minor traffic? No.
