With an associates degree in criminal justice, what departments in the US would be the least competitive (major cities)?
I’ve heard that Los Angeles only accept about ~2% of applicants, and NYC ~10%

Not an answer, but why go for the less competitive? Genuinely asking, why not push your self and be the best version of you?
Percentage of applicants means nothing. You have to understand how many people apply that have automatic DQs, horrible backgrounds, mental issues etc. If you have a clean background and are able to articulate yourself well / show them you know something about the department and city you will most likely get hired dependent on you passing the tests. This isn’t med school admissions lol, standards in policing are usually pretty low outside of smaller departments with great benefits who have prior LEOs applying for only a few vacant spots
NYPD, if you have a pulse and no felony convictions you’re probably getting hired. They are desperate. Physical standards are greatly reduced, they did away with the requirement for 60 college credits or military, no polygraph, no
Issue with prior weed use. Biggest DQ is the psych
Probably the one you have some connection to. Normally during the interview process there’s a question along the lines of “So why here?” People who are from the area or have some connection to it seem to have a better chance of getting through the hiring process in part because I don’t want to hire and train someone just for them to leave in a year to go somewhere else.
I am in the Midwest and a guy from my gym joined the NOLA PD within a quick time from (8-10 weeks I think). He’s got two years of college, no arrests and is in decent shape. Don’t quote me on timeframe but I think that’s it
upstate New York, hiring like crazy and they pay pretty good for COL
Where do you get 10% from? NYPD is hiring everyone with a pulse right now and lowering college credits required, maybe 10-20 years ago yeah.
New Orleans PD.
Definitely not Washington
Dallas Police Department is in dire need of officers
Cleveland
You probably got a good shot at any major city department. Idk any city that isn’t hurting for manpower.
ST Louis Metropolitan police
Baltimore PD used to hire a lot… Not sure how it is currently though.
