help. Worms! 🐛 Do I quit my job? Do I report the issue?

r/

Let me start by saying I work at a local restaurant chain. I’m mid 30s male with no future. I’m single and live alone. My experience is accurate as best I can tell. I have worms. I have for the last year. The type is currently unknown as my doctor is unconvinced I have them in the first place. The restaurant I work at has worms. I work in the kitchen and they are on the tables in the kitchen. I saw them under the tables last night with my very eyes. I thought, this explains how I keep getting worms after taking Albendazole (dewormer) 6 times so far this year. I’ve felt them crawl on me one time when I took food home in a backpack after leaving the restaurant for the night, leading me to believe they may be mixing with the food. I’m concerned that this could be a health issue, but am uncertain if I should continue working here, I only make minimum wage, and also should I report this to someone, like my supervisor or the health department. I’ve spoke openly about having worms for the last year straight, only to be laughed at and attempted to be discredited. I’m tired of choosing between my health and my job. I have them so bad I can’t pass stool most days. And when I do it has strange gelatin like worms? In it. I’m concerned about reporting it as I don’t know if it will jeopardize my job or more pressing the jobs of my coworkers. I’m concerned because could this shut down the restaurant, but also concerned because SHOULD this shut down the restaurant. The restaurant works heavily with raw meat, and I believe this to be the genesis of the issue. HELP! Do I quit my job? Do I report the issue?

Where do the restaurants worms come from? Can you describe them more? If they are crawling across table it sounds like caterpillars tbh.

Are the worms in the meat? Vegetables? Please elaborate

Call the health department immediately to come and examine the restoraunt before anyone else gets sick.

Are you sure they are worms and not maggots?

Smoke a bunch of cigarettes, the smoke will suffocate the worms

How is your metal health? you doing ok? I hear you say a doctor does not know what you have, and thinks you may not have them. Could you be seeing things?

Worms crawling under and on tables cannot infect your intestines with worms. They would be maggots or caterpillars, which will be completely digested. Are the ‘worms’ in your stool moving? Have you taken a few to your doc/ clinic to be identified? Do you eat lots of onions. Are you taking turmeric to kill parasites. Maybe you should start this.

You should both quit and report, and dude you have a future but it might be hard to find. I was a pro cook and went back to school when I was 30, nine years later graduating from grad school. One foot in front of the other and take the time you need. There’s a book called Smart Choices that describes what I teach now

OP – do you have pictures of the worms at all? In the food, under the table, your own samples (eeesh), or anything? Have you just been purchasing OTC dewormer?
