Men shouldn’t compete in women’s sports. I swear to god some people shape their identity around that take. It’s a small nothing burger of an issue as far as major issues go but I hear about it constantly.
No it’s just generally a way of simplifying the concept of “social/political message being pushed in a piece of media clearly for the sake of virtue signaling to the reader as opposed to contributing something tangible to the story
In the US, apparently there is a two-tier system of humanity wherein people with US citizenship have greater inherent worth than people who don’t. If you don’t think this is a popular opinion, you probably live in a blue bubble and have never visited the cesspool that is r/conservative.
In the most vocal cases, it is performative at best. It lacks consistency and is riddled with hypocrisy and often incites just as much hatred as the MAGA morons.
I feel like we need a new word for people who are actually just decent human beings, who don’t judge or excuse people and their actions purely based on race, religion, gender, sex etc.
the work is hard to find. no it’s not, you’re just limiting yourself. there’s plenty of it. suck it up and get back to work and stop asking for handouts online. jesus.
That you need to first love yourself before someone else can love you.
Some people need external validation to find love for themselves, and whether or not that is a healthy thing is completely irrelevant to the point that these people will be miserable forever if they first need to love themselves before someone else can love them… it works for some, for others it doesn´t, so just stop pushing it onto everyone.
People who say “just get a better paying job” makes me feel like they’ve never had a job or never had to switch their job.
They act like it’s a lever you can just pull and “oh I was making 30k a year now I’m making 75k!”
There’s so much time and investment and skill you need to work toward before those options are even available. And most peoples’ life circumstances just don’t accommodate that.
I’ve been working my industry for 10 years just to break through the 50k mark. It’s not been easy and I’m still often paycheck to paycheck.
Unconscious popular opinion – virtue signaling. Most of the time they don’t know what they’re doing is virtue signaling. They’re just so convinced they’re in the right.
Not even close. No one said one peep about trans people until NC Republicans tried to force trans people to use bathrooms matching their gender assigned at birth. Conservative media glommed onto trans people in sports despite it amounting to about 10 high-school students in the entire country.
Yes, Democrats will trot put their token minorities as actual leadership candidates, but thats the only thing they do more than Republicans.
Only time will tell. (I can’t tell you the amount of nurses and nursing instructors that I have told to stop saying that. We fucking know that. It’s an insult to our intelligence)
This was more prominent 5-6 years ago, but I got really sick of reading people say the exact same thing about the “Scott’s Tots” episode of The Office (the one where he has to renege on the promise he made to pay the tuition of the students): “oh my God, I cannot watch that episode.” So I made a subreddit called r/CannotWatchScottsTots and had a second profile named u/CannotScottsTotsBot that would collect and document examples of people giving this exact reaction as a museum heralding the overabundance of people saying this exact thing.
But there was a few months where I didn’t use the CannotScottsTotsBot account and it was the only one moderating the subreddit, so someone usurped the subreddit and ruined it. I eventually got it back, but in the interim, someone else made r/CantWatchScottsTots and the idea was ruined further, and I gave up on the idea altogether.
“Path to hell is paved with good intentions”, mainly because it’s so often misused.
The VAST majority ive seen use this to say “intentions don’t matter, only results” and that’s just annoying and false. It’s meant to say that “intentions aren’t the only thing that matter, you have to think about how it’ll affect others”. Intent matters a lot. If you do a bad thing for a good reason, you aren’t a bad person. The difference between a good person and a bad person is the good person feels bad when they do wrong and will often try to make amends.
The whole “woke” thing. At first it implied broadening one’s perspective to see something for what it really is. Now it’s become a “with us or against us” situation with political ideals. I meditate daily and would consider myself genuinely “woke”, but I don’t want to be associated with that term.
When some people say to overweight people that they would lose weight if only they ate healthier/exercise more etc, when, in reality, there are many reasons why some people carry the weight. Yes, some people do eat a lot or eat unhealthy food (or both), but in many cases, weight issues can happen due to certain health issues, certain medications, not being able to exercise much due to health issues, genetics, to name a few.
Athletes and entertainers opinions matter. They don’t.
Politics and main stream media matter. They don’t.
Men deserve to be allowed to compete in women’s sports. They because they identify as a woman. They don’t.
“If you and your spouse don’t fight, it’s not a real relationship/it’s a doomed marriage.” Bullshit. We disagree of course but we talk it out and find common ground and move the fuck on. It infuriates me to no end when people say this crap. Sorry you don’t know how to work through shit rationally.
Edit: actually all the hokey “wife bad” bullshit infuriates me too now that I think about it.
I’m largely sick of people saying any big or successful movie from a major studio is instantly “slop”. Like an actor does a movie and you see a bunch of comments going “Oh they’re off to the slop factory”.
Making movies is hard, and hundreds if not thousands of people work hard on them. Even if they don’t turn out great every time, its still an art form with people legitimately trying and movies don’t deserve to be wholy discarded based on a few key things. Sharing that opinion also tends to get me called a mindless consumer who accepts anything too
Thinking about the welfare or just the happiness of anyone other than yourself is communism. Believing that other people should have the same rights and opportunities as you is “radical left ideology”.
“Oh but they’re teens, they’re going through puberty, it’s because of their hormones/developing brains blah blah blah”.
Sure, you’re a teen. It can be hard sometimes. I get it. But there is no need to be rude to me. I get you have mood swings but there is no need to be an asshole to me. You don’t even have to be polite, just respectful.
I’m a teacher and a mother to a teen. I’m so sick of people excusing their children’s shitty behaviour just because they are age 12-18.

“The left went too far”
No, bro, they didn’t – you’re just slurping on that propaganda smoothie like a fucking crack addict

When people call anything they don’t like “woke”
Well if we give my kids votes, we need to have more dessert.
“Just be yourself.” Like that’s ever been a viable career strategy.
Taylor Swift’s music is good.

Most of them.

The 2024 presidential election was a mandate.
That ‘woke’ = being a good person.

I’m sick of people inserting politics into everything.
The general pessimistic attitude about the stste of the world. Its a self fulfilling prphpecy.

The (probably incel) hate for any movie with strong female or POC leads. So tired of the whole “Go woke, go broke” movement
‘Money can’t buy happiness,’ true, but it can buy you the headspace to actually chase it. Try telling that to someone choosing between rent and ramen
People telling you that ultra rich people are rich because they worked hard for it
Led Zep or Foo Fighters being great rock bands.

“Both sides are the same” and “What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger.”
No, they’re not, and no, it doesn’t always.
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Yea, F that. Sometimes you are left with PTSD or lifelong injuries.
“Only the left focuses on identity politics.”

“Let’s normalize (insert literally anything)?” No. Just do whatever you want. You don’t need things to be “normalized” to do them.

Everytime I heard the word woke or OF detected, opinion rejected stuff. It’s annoying and dumb.
