i got accepted into this nice college 2 hours away, so I’ll get a medical associates degree! its 18k per year for tuition, and 3k per semester for dorming. i might pay less due to scholarships. i also like the activities there, and it seems really high-quality.
however. my mom keeps wishing i could stay home for schooling. she thinks its too expensive, and she’s also scared for me, too. telling her some people my age go across the country for college didn’t quell her worries.
i honestly don’t want to stay home, though 🙁 i wanna be independent for a bit. also, compared to other schools i got accepted into, 3k per semester is CHEAP.
any advice? 🙁

The dorms at my school are like 8k-9k per semester, and it is not a prestigious school. If you break it down, you’re paying like less than 1k per month for living and that likely includes a meal plan. Even if it doesn’t, <1k/mo for living is very cheap. I would say absolutely go for it if you can afford it. Living on campus is an experience that is 100% worth if you can do it.
Also not having a 2 hour drive 4-5 days a week is more than worth the 3k in my opinion.
3k a semester is a STEAL
That’s cheaper than it was for me in 2010. It was $4-5k a Semester or so

Not at all! I know there’s scholarships that cover that kind of thing. I’ll find the website and send it your way
if you were doing a better degree (no offense) but for that high price tag. I would not consider this. You will have a hard time paying this back. You will be in debt for a long time.
