Do people on r/confession ever get reported, or are all the stories made up?

r/

Most things i see on that sub are straight up crimes that people have admitted to and are hard to tell if they are real or fake. Do people actually report things they see on there or is everything assumed fake. The fact that most are hidden behind throwaways makes this a lot harder i would imagine.

Most of the shit is fake. Same with the trueoffmychest sub and I’m sure other subs as well. You can easily spot fakes because they spend 6-8 paragraphs telling an in-depth story that could be explained in 2. It’s both people practicing creative writing and people using chatbots to generate stories for them. A lot of the replies are also bots because they can’t spot the obvious fake story, although some people are just gullible.

My optimistic speculation is that it would be easy enough for a hacker to go and report something truly preposterous. But difficult enough that you’d retain anonymity otherwise.

I should hope not the same way a Priest won’t turn you in except in extreme cases
