Hey everyone, just got a job as a TO.
Curious for some advice as to what to expect and how much of a hand I’ll actually have training.
Background: Prior Military Police/Combat training instructor, and I loved it. Teaching was definitely my passion and I’m super excited to have an opportunity like this to essentially do what I was doing before, but in the civilian world.
With that being said, I know real policing is a little different so kind of just want to know what topics the academy would actually let me touch on and what types of things you were taught by civilians. I could teach a handcuffing and searching class, but I’m sure they rather let the real cops teach that, which I get but just wanna hear your experience.
I used to love teaching Use of Force and tactics but I just don’t know if they’d let me teach stuff like that without the credibility of being a real civilian LEO.
Thanks!
TLDR:
Am I gonna teach the bullshit classes no one cares about, or will I be able to teach some real meaningful stuff?
