M22 here, I have 1 income stream that gets swallowed every month by my monthly bills to survive. I make 3 thousand dollars per month.
Here’s my biggest advantage, I work night shift, 6pm-3am…and it’s remote so commuting to work isn’t something I have to worry about either.
I get to have an entire day before I start work…and I just don’t know how to capitalize on it.
I thought of getting a 9-5 as well but I would most definitely burn out super quick and probably won’t make it to the end of my nightshift workday. I need to figure out how to generate an additional income stream so I’m not so financially fucked.
What would you do if you were me?

I heard grub hub was pretty lucrative. Just a suggestion. 🤷🏽♀️
Do you have a car, smartphone, and not terrible driving record? If so, you can work for UberEats, DoorDash, etc.
I’ve been making extra money driving for UberEats and honestly it’s great. I make $20-25 hour, sometimes more. No boss, no schedule. When I have extra time and energy, I get in my car and turn on the UberEats app. It sends me fares that I accept, go to restaurants to pick up meals, and deliver them to hungry people. I get to listen to audiobooks or music in my car, get to know my city better, and interact with lots of people in my community. There are also incentives where I can make extra money for delivering at certain times when there are fewer drivers. It’s like a kitchen dash game except in real life with real money. And it’s really satisfying to watch the money come in.
If I’ve got an extra 6 hours I can easily go out and make $100-150, and when you do that a few days a week it really adds up. I chose UberEats because Reddit said they pay the most, and they pay out every Monday for the week before so it’s a quicker payday turnaround than many other jobs. When I applied, I uploaded my documents and was approved the next day (and I have a few speeding tickets in my past but it wasn’t a problem), no interview or anything. It’s super easy. Maybe I’m weird but it’s kinda fun.
And I think it might work well for you since you’ve got daytime hours free, so you could deliver for a few hours before or after work without disrupting your sleep schedule too much. But just a note: you’ll make more money delivering during dinner time hours than breakfast.
You’re right to be concerned about burnout from working too much. Since you work remotely, have you considered moving to a lower cost of living area?
Interesting hours for remote work! Can I ask what kind of work you are doing? Those shifts are tough, my son did those hours for a long time but never really adjusted to nights. Maybe there’s an extension of those hours, or similar work that adds part time hours to a couple of days? I think it might be hard to function if you work nights plus full day shifts
Do you need it immediately?

Sell things you don’t use, don’t like, and take up space. I mean things like the clothes in the back of your closet you haven’t needed or worn in a couple years. A consignment shop that pays immediately. Kitchen appliances that you don’t use.
I’ll bet you have a niche skill that someone wants to learn. Online tutoring. That’s happening on YouTube, discord, and OF. Check out skillshare.
Whether it’s some sort of specialty or ethnic cooking, making wire wrapped jewelry, you’re good with pets, brilliant with resumes, you know how to get kids to get motivated to do something, you know how to code, you know non toxic gardening pretty well, you know how to solder and weld, you’re great at doing your hair and you have a specific hair type, you are good with creating short cuts on a phone, or you have an unusual hobby, someone is interested in doing what you know how to do. Share that knowledge, and make some extra cash doing it. If you’re really good at one subject, try online tutoring. ( No fuel expense, and no bad situations)
I’ve never had reptiles or amphibians, and don’t plan to, but there’s a guy with a YouTube channel I watch to unwind that simply shows how he builds his tanks for his critters. And before and after of his pets. Snakes, frogs, fish, turtles, you name it, he’s built a tank for it. He was able to quit his job and do that full time.
If you have a car payment that’s killing you, look for a cash car being sold by a mechanic shop in your area. That car payment and full coverage insurance is a huge payment.
Check out mint mobile in the US. I got a decent sturdy phone straight from the manufacturer, and an entire year of unlimited data was less than $300.
If you get paid every 2 weeks, there’s going to be certain months that you get 3 paychecks. Get a paper calendar you can look at and plan out what you are going to do with that money.
Coupons aren’t dead. That money adds up.
Something I started doing that saved me so much stress: top off your gas tank a week after payday. Make it a habit to fill up your tank a week after payday. That way you’re never desperate for gas money right before payday.
Back when I was in your shoes I pursued gaining skills that would make me more than $X a month. It obviously depends on what you choose to settle on, but as long as you are learning and not rotting you’ll be at least moving forward
What about substitute teaching? It’s not an everyday thing but gives you extra cash. I would check the public and private schools in your area.
