Hi š§ I’m very stressed and I feel like I need some reassurance. I’m in college rn, physics major, I love it but my goodness academics are not my strong suit. My gpa is a bit atrocious (overall: 3.1/ major: 2.8)
I do have alot if extra random skills tho, I can use Python and Excel for data analysis, and a bit of python and html and java for website development I can use WordPress and Squarespace, as well as I’m the EIC at my schools arts publication, so I can do Photoshop, indesign, team management and administrative work
I’m also doing atmospheric science research this summer so the side quests go crazy but I am feeling a bit demotivated with this damn GPA (I cannot land a job in the physics dept because of it and I got rejected from the materials physics lab š)
I feel like im not going ti be able to get anywhere with this degree, I mean grad school already seems out of the question and I’m so stressed about the job hunting I will be doing in two years.
Help š§if there’s any old physics/engineering majors who have some advice I would love it. Should I pick up autoCAD?

Hey honey, i am proud of you! I am sooo damn proud of all of your achievements⦠going to college, having landed a research job for the summer.
To get adjuster from high school life to college life is a 180 degree change. Nothing is the same, except you.
So, letās stop and do some analyzingā¦
You went from a dependent to full independent overnight. There wasnāt even a bit of transitional period. Suddenly, everyone is expecting you to master, life as a full grown adult, manage your finances, fend for yourself (cook, grocery shop, doctor visit when ill, etc) make a decision about your future and decide your career path. And donāt you forget to suddenly get all A+++ in college and what about those scholarships?
Letās stop and take a deep breath, I think you are doing fantastic! If you are taking a bit of longer to adjust to your new environment and lifestyle⦠good for you.
You want to take a smaller course load, until you feel fully adjusted? By all means.
This isnāt a sprinting exercise, this is a journey and we all operate differently. We adjust at different speeds.
You got this! In my books, you are more than a GPA, you are human and you are fantastic!!!
