Why are Iowa cops so strict about tint

r/

My side windows are kinda dark and I get pulled over for it almost every time I’m in Iowa, usually a written warning but I’ve gotten a ticket before. Only state I’ve driven in like this and I’ve driven in IA,IL,IN,MN,WI,NE,WY,CO,MO, and KS to name a few. Only Iowa ever cares to pull me over and say something. And everytime I’ve been pulled over for it I haven’t been speeding or doing anything else illegal. Just tint

I’ve got 5% on all my vehicles. Southern Georgia is the only place I get pulled over. Even pulling my RV up and down the West Coast and back across the country to the east, it’s only south GA I have issues. It mostly has to do with the low volume of traffic and not having any calls for service.

I did get pulled over in central Florida once for tint, while on duty, by an agency with a policy against stopping for tint.

They probably don’t have a lot of work there. Therefore, they have to notice the small things like window tan or both license plates. Mudflaps, etc., etc..

    Because it’s against the law

    Is it illegal? (That’s rhetorical)

What do those other states have anything to do with you violating Iowa law?

Honestly? They’re probably looking for something else beyond the stop. Guns, drugs, wanted person, etc. probable cause is probable cause

The aren’t for the most part. State Patrol likes stopping cars for it though.

At the end of the day it’s illegal in Iowa to have tint on the front windows unless you have the bullshit medical exemption they stopped doing years ago.
