I just need to share this little oops moment I had with this service because I’m still shaking my head over it. Have you ever signed up for something “free” online only to find out it came with a catch? I’d love to hear if anyone else has had a similar mix-up!
So, last weekend, I’m scrolling through TikTok, just chilling after a long day, when I spot an ad for a free astrology reading. I’m not a huge horoscope person, but I thought, “Why not? Could be a fun five-minute distraction.” I click the link, fill out a quick form with my birth date, and get this super generic horoscope about “embracing change.” Alright, cool, I move on with my life.
Fast forward to yesterday – I’m checking my bank app to plan for some concert tickets, and bam! There’s a charge from them. I’m thinking, hold up, I didn’t sign up for anything! I head to their website, and after some digging, I find this tiny note in the terms saying the “free” reading comes with a trial that auto-renews into a monthly plan. I must’ve missed it because there wasn’t any obvious pop-up or checkbox when I signed up.
I tried to cancel, but their website is like a puzzle with no solution. There’s no clear “Cancel Subscription” option anywhere! I sent an email to their support team, but two days later, I’m still waiting for a reply beyond the standard “we’ll get back to you” message. Now I’m just hoping they don’t charge me again next month. I feel a bit silly for not spotting the fine print, but who has time to read all that?
Thanks for letting me share this funny little story. I’m super curious to hear your stories or tips for avoiding these online curveballs

That’s very common, unfortunately.
I’m glad you can laugh about it now
Have you heard back from their support yet, or are they still leaving you on read? I hope it works out soon
the “free trial” monster got you too. I swear these companies are out here playing hide-and-seek champs with their cancel buttons – it’s like they want us to lose
I’m dying to know if “embracing change” included unexpected charges
Haha, I’m officially on the skeptic train with you – choo choo
Did you enter any payment info? I’m confused how they were able to charge you? If you did, I would always assume you opted to a free trial and that there will be a charge at some point.
My strategy is to always sign up with PayPal if I can – it’s way easier to cancel subscriptions through their dashboard than hunting for a nonexistent cancel button on some shady website. I learned that the hard way after a “free” trial for a music app got me for $9.99
Wtf is up with all these astrology posts lately? Is it some weird reverse psychology marketing thing?
Have your bank hold the payment back. Those kind of scams will continue to rip you off forever, and not respond
