A kid at my elementary school died in a tragic accident, there’s still a photo of him up by the principal’s office.
Word is he and his sister went home after school, and they arrived before their parents got home. He went to his room wearing a lanyard that didn’t have a breakaway clasp.
He would swing it around his neck all the time, lots of kids at my school did this. Apparently it somehow got caught on the doorhandle of his bedroom and he died of strangulation. His younger sister was the one that found his body.
One of the saddest was a girl who was really tiny got in a car accident and was launched through the windshield. I wasn’t a popular kid and she was always nice to me regardless.
So many of my classmates have passed away since 2013 that it’s scary including my brother and my high school sweetheart ..from car accidents, drug overdoses, violence to random medical conditions ..it’s unbelievable so many friends die young ..and you think about the memories like wow they really are gone forever
the high school I went to had a student die every year for like 6 or 7 years in a row until the year after I graduated
there was at least a couple alcohol-related driving deaths, one girl got a disease on a mission trip or something in like Central America and one guy fell out of the back of a pickup truck
Construction accidents. One fell from a high building (safety line was not tied properly or something) and one got hot-mopped by roofing tar and died in the hospital. This was after high school, but they were my classmates when I was in highschool. They were still in their 20s.
He hung himself at the age of 13 because he thought his friend died. (they were both drinking that night and the other one just tell asleep from drinking too much)
Not a classmate but a guy in my school less than two weeks ago. He caught leukemia in January and fought it with all his strength until the 7th April. I didn’t know him personally but a girl in my class was friend with him. When a teacher entered the class and said he had passed it was the saddest moment I can remember in school. Even though I didn’t know him it just breaks my heart, he was 17 and I’ve just turned 18. Rest in peace
Classmate of mine died in a car accident when he was 17. The driver was his friend and he was drunk. Every passenger in that car died but the driver lived. He’s rotting in jail now.
He wanted to meet his sister’s new boyfriend. They claim they were just cleaning their gun and it happened to be both loaded and pointed at his head. He was in a coma for a week before he finally died.
Yep. Aged 12. We were playing hockey at lunch time and my friend collapsed. She had a stroke there and then and was sent to the major children’s hospital in London where she died two days later. Completely fine, healthy, FULL of life before then. Absolutely destroyed her parent’s lives of course. Caused so much trauma for me and her friendship group. Going to a funeral at that age for my best friend was horrific
Not exactly class mate, but there was a guy one grade younger. We both attended one music school. I haven’t even noticed how i stopped seeing him. Then one of head teachers told us he’s fighting leukemia. He lost
The first two big ones were shortly after high school.
1 — An SUV hydroplaned in a rainstorm. My friend was dead on the scene; her sister, the driver, was seriously injured; the kid without a seatbelt in the backseat was thrown out of the car and barely had a scratch.
2 — Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The guy privately told my mother after a bone marrow drive that they actually had found 2 or 3 donors, but they all said no to donating. He died later that year. But I know for a fact there’s at least one cancer patient who may be alive today because of that bone marrow drive. It saved one life, just not my friend’s.
Both were people I knew from all over school, in that unique high school space where lots of people are more than acquaintance and not quite a GOOD friend. The first in particular.
My childhood best friend committed suicide by hanging himself. He took a gap year to study and fell in love with a girl. The cause of suicide is unknown but from the rumors I heard, his girlfriend left him. I wish I didn’t lose touch with him, could have helped him rationalize his thoughts.
I had a good friend who was murdered by his ex girlfriend.
She lured him to a wooded area somehow and whe he got there she shot him in the chest 6 times.
He was too heavy for her to move him to the car trunk so she called her brother out to meet her there and when he got there she threatened him and his children’s lives if he didn’t help her.
So he did and then she burned the car that he was in.
She almost got away with it but 6 or 7 years later her brother couldn’t take the guilt and went to the police and confessed.
She be in jail until she’s like 85.
Not long enough.
Best friend just died near end of march. 13 committed suicide. It’s actually his birthday today, I was planning on getting him a PSP. it is what it is I guess
Friend and his brother went for a hike in the mountains in June and got caught in a blizzard. They were not prepared and my friend froze to death and his brother got significant frostbite. Have always been more prepared than most since then.
Bullied to suicide freshman year of high school. Everyone knew exactly who was responsible but the school wouldn’t discipline the ring leader of the whole thing bc he was gay and they thought that would make them look bad.
Brain aneurysm got her. Developed a headache in the morning and felt sick so went back home from class. Her mom found her unconcious on the floor 2hrs later. Saddest thing is her dad died from the exact same thing a month previously
Not a class mate but same school. A guy hung himself outside of his own (mothers) house. I think his gf was cheating, she was one of the most attractive people I’ve been around. I didn’t know him too much but he always acknowledged my existence when we met as a group outing. I think he stopped taking anti-depressants. I always wondered what other people would do in that scenario.
Girl I had a crush on died in a house fire along with two of her sisters. The same house had caught on fire years before. Happened when I was in 5th grade. I still drive past the area whenever I visit other family. Nothing was ever rebuilt on the plot of land, so the remains of the house are surrounded by trees and shrubs that grew over the past two decades. I’ve laid flowers near the fence multiple times over the years on her birthday or the anniversary of her death.
My best friend since age 8 was killed by a drunk driver when we were 16. i wasn’t with them. Got the call at 2am from another friend just saying she was gone. Fucked me up for years
Had a guy working on a farm and was carrying a ladder he hit a low high voltage wire.
He was class president
That’s how I met my best friend he was supposed to be roommates with him (the class president)at our mock UN. I was a late add and didn’t have a roommate
Wild times
In sixth grade, my classmate “Jake” disappeared one morning. He was quiet, good grades, always doodling things in his notebook. But one Monday morning, his seat was empty. When Jake still wasn’t at school by Friday, someone asked the teacher about him. Teacher looked nervous, and said something about “respecting privacy,” which only made us more curious.
Someone said they heard Jake’s dad was too hard on him, always yelling at him, and that he’d been planning run away for months, saving lunch money for a bus ticket. The truth was, a few days later, Jake was found two states over, in a field.
Turned out he jumped on a train on the way to school carrying nothing but a backpack full of sketchpads and his school books, and the jacket on his back. I guess he had suvccumbed to the elements (it was autumn around that time). It turned out that his dad was abusive and Jake couldn’t take it anymore, so he ran away. I think about him sometimes, and just feel sad. 10 years old and he felt he had no one to turn to and ran away, to his death, unfortunately.
His dad became a drunk and his mom left him and moved out of state a little while later. Idk where they ended up though.
Graduated in 2014, there have been several people I grew up with that have died. These are a few notable ones:
In 2016 a girl died in a head-on collision while coming home from work. The guy that hit her fell asleep behind the wheel. I went to her funeral, it was really sad. She always had a positive attitude and was a nice person.
In 2021 there was a shootout and a standoff with police across town. The father of a guy I went to school with lost his mind and shot and killed his wife, his 2 sons(the guy I went to school with), and a cop. There was a video that a neighbor’s security camera caught of the father straight up executing one of his sons after he tried to run away out the backyard gate.
And lastly, since its approaching a year since they died, another guy I grew up with lost his life along with his younger brother and friend after a train collided with their car. They were out partying just before that happened and were only 5 minutes away from getting home.
He hung on to the back of a truck which had stopped at some lights for a dare. His grip gave out before the next time the truck stopped, hitting the tarmac head first going around 50mph.
My classmate and I knew each other since kindergarten. Her Father worked for the local TV channel in my hometown. He had a passion for physical special effects for movies. He loved explosions and fire effects.
One day, I don’t know what my classmate’s Father was thinking, he brought home a bunch of explosives and combustible materials to store for some kind of movie project. That night, himself and his entire family met their end and their home was engulfed in fire. It was all over the news as the freakiest accident of the year. My classmate passed away when she was just 16 years old.
I still feel so bad as the exam period made us both bad tempered and we didn’t speak to each other for a while. Then he committed suicide. I wish I knew how he was feeling.
A freak welding accident where his garage exploded while he was working on his dirt bike. I was out of the country at the time and didn’t even hear about it until a couple weeks after the funeral.
Yeah, a classmate of mine was shot and killed by his mother, in the head, he was outside his housing complex defending his sister from guys harrasing her and his mom came out with a gun and started shooting, she shot him in the head by mistake, it was huge and this was in our freshmen year. It was on the news and everything.
The story went that he used to roll heaps in his sleep so he had a strap that held him in the bed and apparently he managed to roll in a way that it hung him in his sleep.
One of my close mates went to the gym with this guy. I know everyone always say shit like this, but this dude was genuinely the sweetest guy ever, nice to absolutely everyone which was super rare back in high school. Anyway, my mate took a different route home and Unfortuantely thought he could beat a truck at an intersection, and it killed the passenger (nice guy). I remember seeing an accident on Facebook involving my mates car and my heart dropped, my heart dropped even harder when I saw that the only fatality was the passenger. My friend still hasn’t gotten over it, it’s heartbreaking for both sides and it was all because of one route change and one bad decision.
In the 5th grade, I had a friend who was an absolutely positive influence on everyone around him. He was a great kid, a great friend. One day, towards the spring time, I got a phone call from my cousin…crying. We were ten years old at the time and my cousin was one of the first people to find him hanging in the tree in his backyard. Supposedly his mother was abusive and threatened to throw him and his baby sister out for being “too much”. I still remember that phone call, no kid should hear that their friend is dead.
My class sang for him during a music recital, we sang, “If I Die Young,” in tribute to him. We all have been changed forever since then. It’s been a long 14 years or so
One girl and her sister in a house fire, and 3 different unrelated car accidents. One made it so kids couldn’t drive themselves to their sports games anymore.
Elementary school. He was ill, and with the knowledge I have today he was likely battling cancer. After 2 years he just stopped showing up one day and a month later our counselors came in and gave us a talk. His family donated a memorial bench for him in the courtyard.
Yes, just before year 10. He was on holidays and the vehicle he was in was hit by a drunk driver, he was one of the ones killed. Of course the drunk driver was fine.
I was in primary school with her and she had leukemia. I was jealous because her parents bought her everything and took her out of school regularly for vacation. My Mom then explained to me that she probably won’t even survive primary school.
I recently saw in the newspaper that she died at age 21 during her apprenticeship. It’s sad but I’m glad she got a few more years.
Another girl I went to secondary school with accidentally walked on train tracks at age 15.
Wasn’t a suicide, she was with friends and didn’t pay attention.
Nolan had something that made him prone to seizures, I don’t recall what specifically. They took him off medication so that they could study his seizures in person when they happened. He had a seizure in his sleep the morning of the appointment and passed away. It was the first time I realized that sometimes the worst things can happen to the best people for no reason at all.
3rd grade. Kid could bend a corner kick into the goal. Was so cool to see. I was no slouch in soccer. He ran circles around me. I know it’s the 3rd grade and anything could happen but still….
Anyways I moved away the next year to another country for almost few years and came back about back end of high school, saw a bunch of old classmates and was interested in joining soccer. Figured Todd had to be varsity at worst, found out he passed from cancer in middle school. Couldn’t believe. Apparently he was already being looked at by soccer people even that early on. Sad how that shit can happen.
One was a suicide in the 8th grade. The year before she attempted suicide in the class we shared. I didn’t see the attempt since she sat behind me and to my left, but I do remember the teacher suddenly getting up and rushing her from the room.
Freshman year of high school a kid on the hockey team was killed by a puck to the chest. The rest of high school he was mentioned in assemblies and the like, and I believe his parents were presented with his diploma at graduation.
I think it was my junior year another student died when she was struck by a car crossing the street to get to campus. She was never mentioned by the school, unlike the other student that died. Allegedly this was because it didn’t happen on campus or during a school event.
I’m trying to remember his last name but it is the first instance I became obsessed with the news, I want to say it was Adam Baker, this happened in Florida in 1986, he and his family left the state fair I think, he said he wanted to go to sleep and he never woke up. I was 6.
Next is Michael Altman, this was in 1995, he hung himself as an eight grade student due to bullying. I was 14.
Next was my cousin, Frank Prevatte who hung himself thinking he was all he had even though he walked past my door every single day. I was 23.
Finally, Joshua Couture, Tampa native bad ass and wonderful human being, died to cocaine cut with fentanyl on the same day my cousin died, 2 weeks before his birthday. I’m this same age now, 44.
Sorry, that’s heavy but they were all classmates and their names should be remembered as best I can.
Houston, TX. Suburb. Major city with little to no public transportation. Lost a lot of classmates/former classmates due to drunk driving accidents. FM 1960, major street nearest us off I-45, was known as the DUI capital of the US for awhile there.
One girl died over summer break between freshman and sophomore year. Car accident. She was driving. Her family was returning from Florida and she was practicing driving. This was in 2008.
Another guy died not 2 weeks after graduation. He was the kind of guy you low key expected this to happen to. He was a party animal. He was partying on a boat with his friends who were drunk and high. He fell in and drowned.
I’ve been out of HS going on 14 years now. Since then, to my knowledge, about a dozen (out of class size of about 300-350, not sure) have passed since HS ended. I recently learned one girl died of cancer not super long ago, maybe in the last year or two. I was shocked. According to FB, she had gotten married and had a couple kids in the last 5 years. I feel bad for her family, and sorta weird myself; I had had a crush on her for a while in high school.
Most who have died were from car accidents or some form of misadventure or overdose.
I’ve lost 3 students due to gun violence in the span of 3 years their names are Karon Blake , Avion Evan’s, lrving Laboard . This genuinely makes me sick to my stomach even tho I was never close to them
I didn’t understand. She came to school with a hat all the time and she had very little hair. For some reason I just decided that I was going to be her friend and we were besties. She gave me a lipstick shaped eraser and told me we were going to save it and start using it in high school.
Then she stopped coming to school. I remember saving homework worksheets for her, hoping she would come back soon. Then one day our form teacher said she had sad news to tell us and brought up an obituary she had snipped from the newspaper.
I still remember you, Kelly. And I kept that eraser for a really long time.
one passed away due to health issue that i unfortunately forgot, another died by suicide after releasing a novel about his life and what drove him to do it.
I had two classmates pass away three years apart from one another quite suddenly and unexpectedly. One died in the arms of his best friend after suffering a sudden heart attack while playing soccer, the other suffered a medical emergency from what I believe was an undiagnosed condition and died in hospital.
I had spoken to my second classmate about a week and a half prior about our respective plans over the summer break that year and a week and a half after that chat he was gone….
My son lost 1 to leukaemia early Dec 2024.
Then lost another to accidental drowning Jan 2025.
They were all 14.
I lost 3 classmates in 1 car crash, in year 12.
Driving too fast on wet country roads with no seatbelts sent them into a tree. 1 survived with minor scratches, 1 paralysed, 3 dead.
10th grade she was hit by a car crossing the street to school. There were a bunch of condos students lived in directly across the street from the school but the nearest crosswalk was a block out of the way in either direction so we all just bolted through traffic. It took the death of a student for the city to finally install a proper crosswalk.
No, but a childhood friend of mine shot his parents and burned their house down while I was in college. I knew his mom as a lunch lady and it was really shocking to hear.
Not a classmate but a friend. died of something like a knee clot causing a heart condition or something similar. They didn’t disclose it properly. We never asked.
In middle school i had a friend who started hanging out with a wannabe gangster (we were 13 at the time) he slowly started to part away from us. The gangster kid started getting inside houses to burglarise and take jewelry and electronics. Well he went into a shotcaller’s house and the shotcaller found out. Through time
That friend no longer would hang out with that gangster kid and one day the kid showed up to his house and asked him to accompany him to see a girlfriend. My friend refused and refused and the kid kept telling him “cmon i wont take long” so he agreed.
They went to jack in the box got food and sat down to eat outside on the curb.
A car pulled up and shot the gangster kid and my friend, killing them instantly. Conclusion was that kid had a hit put on him, and my friend was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Yep when I was 12. He died from leukemia but the thing is.. nobody knew he had it. His parents took him to the hospital for a nose bleed that wouldn’t stop, and when they did blood work they found out he had stage 4 leukemia. Later that night he slipped into a coma and passed 2 days later.
I had one friend who was playing by the train tracks and, for some reason, didn’t notice the train coming. He was run over and died.
Then I had another friend, who wasn’t in my class but in a parallel class. His family was away on a trip when they were in a car accident. Everyone except his little brother died, and the little brother was pretty much brain dead. It was rough to see.
I knew this kid when I was In middle school. Came from a very poor family. Came to school wearing the same clothes multiple days in a row had bad body oder. I would go to his house to hang out with him and realized his parents were strung out on meth. House was a mess, smelled like cat pee, trash everywhere, kitchen had rotten food everywhere. We were around 12 years old then. I told my mom and she wouldn’t let me go back to his house, so I lost touch with him. At 14 he got hit by a car while ridding his bike out of a neighborhood on to a main road. It was just after dark, so the driver didn’t have time to react. He never even stopped to look for cars from what people who witnessed it said. He was killed instantly. They ended up finding meth in his system.
Kid in the back of a moving pickup truck fell out and cracked his skull. It was in AZ so it was even legal to be back there as long as youre 16+ which he was.
One from a heartproblem, so he and we kind of knew it could happend
Another one killed himself due to depression, he had a week where he lost his grandparent, his girlfriend broke up with him and we thought we had him in control as we said, but unfortunatly we didnt, and he took a rope and found a tree.
And the last one, died in a car accident, and he was mostly at fault here, I would say to be honest. After a party between christmas and new years, he biked home, down a hill, drunk and no hands on the handle bar he just rode out into a crossing at around 3am in the morning, the car who hit him couldnt see him, it was dark and he had no lights on.
We had a kid in our class who basically would have been a perfect older third brother to Rod and Todd Flanders. He’d walk around spouting bible quotes and generally emanating an overly-sunshiny disposition. He’d roll up to our group and declare something like “Hello all. I’ve a feeling that I’m about to get a fantastic mark on today’s chemistry test!”, and we’d all ignore him completely.
He was driving home in icy conditions from a ski trip with his younger brother and apparently drifted over the centerline and collided head-on with a truck.
Timed a green light on a scooter at the same time an 18 wheeler was racing to beat the red. You could still see tire tracks on his hands at the funeral.
He lived right around the corner. We had grown up together.
Also had a classmate I didn’t know well at all get killed during a random kidnapping of him and his girlfriend. I did know her. She and I had a romantic relationship later at college. I never asked and she never told.
I had 3 pass away.
One died from cancer.
Two were killed in car accidents (one when I was 11, one when I was 14).
Then about a week after I graduated high school and we were technically no longer classmates, one of my friends killed himself.
My best friend shot himself on graduation day because he didn’t know how to tell his parents that he hadn’t been attending school and had since dropped out.
I still think I could have done more to help him, but I don’t know what that is. I miss him. RIP Mark
class mate (well say mike) didnt die but popular jock who was drafted into the mlb was speeding in the rain and crashed head on into mikes dads car, in front of the school. Mike was pretty messed up and spent time in the hospital but sadly mikes dad died.
facing 5 to 7 years in prison he ended up only getting 8 months and 5 years probation… he only served 3 months before returning to play pro baseball.
I had one friend in my class die from wrecking his ATV. One good friend died of a drug overdose. Another great friend that killed himself. All three were great guys. Think of them often.
Yep a nice dude, (Chriseïst) he was short but loved by woman. I say that because he was always telling me he was not happy. Also he confess me he was into a lot of hard drugs, we were 14 maximum at this time. A couple years later the director from the school came into my class to tell us he shot himself under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. R.I.P buddy.

DV. She was gunned down by her husband at the local gas station after lunch finished.
I used to get my paycheck cashed by her at the store.

So 5 dead kids within 3 years some in the class below me. Way too many for one school
Also someone I was friends with in middle school died about ten years after from a brain tumor which was sad
1 to cancer, 1 to a drunk driver.
Alcohol poisoning. 10th grade. Had something like more than 12 check marks on his arm, suggesting number of shots. RIP
Hung himself
Hit by a car
Hit by drunk driver
Died by car crash
OD
These are the first that come to mind.
7th grade, a girl in my grade burned alive in a house fire. Everyone, including the pets, made it out but her.
Grew up in a Government Home for Disabled Children and most of my friends had Muscular Dystrophy and died before they’re 18yo.
he was kidnapped raped and murdered
Unfortunately no. They were all bullies and still they are all living their best lives. There’s no fucking karma or justice in this world
Had one hang himself and the other had Sudden arrhythmic death syndrome
Senior year of highschool, 2012.
He threw himself off the third story of one of our buildings into the central quad right before lunch. It shocked everyone.
We all miss you, Drew 💔
American highschools
I still feel so bad as the exam period made us both bad tempered and we didn’t speak to each other for a while. Then he committed suicide. I wish I knew how he was feeling.
I lived a few doors down from Elisa Lam at UBC. She was an incredibly nice person and I still think her death is suspicious.
Meningitis for one, car crashes did for a couple of others.
Since graduation there has been 3 deaths 2 by car accidents and 1 suicide
They had heart issues and passed away after going swimming in grade 7. At least, that’s what i remember being told. R.I.P. to them 🙏🏾
DUI on new year’s eve on his freshman year, crashed his tiny car against a big semi
Dropped dead at 20 due to an unknown heart defect 🙁 was an amazing guy and a proper athlete too.
One girl had epilepsy – playing on the field hockey team in the afternoon, dead in the evening.
One girl had a congenital heart condition. Woke up in the morning but never got up off the bed.
Leukemia for another. These deaths really affected everyone
Went through an Intersection and straight under a truck at 16.
A classmate? Heroin had them dropping like flies.
Three.
Cancer has killed 4 school friends – I’m 45
I was 8. He had a medical condition that made it difficult for him to walk upright so he always walked with one hand on his knee.
No one talked to us about him dying or what the condition was he had.
But even though his name is lost to me, I’ve not forgotten him or what he looked like.
Girl shot herself with a shotgun in high school. (At home not at school). I still remember her name and it was decades ago.
One had Ebola, one shot himself in the head, 2 died in a car accident, 1 was murdered….
I’ve lost 3 students due to gun violence in the span of 3 years their names are Karon Blake , Avion Evan’s, lrving Laboard . This genuinely makes me sick to my stomach even tho I was never close to them
She jumped from her 13th floor bathroom. We were friends, she had texted me a day before and I never got around to opening it.
He died due to a heart complication
Leukemia. She was aged 6 going on 7.
The last person I knew as a kid died about 10 years ago now, they’re all gone, I’m the last
My son lost 1 to leukaemia early Dec 2024.
Apparently somebody in my year level was killed in a car accident a few years after we graduated.
Girl I dated who was also a friend of my sister got into a drunk person’s car after a party and they crashed. She died, he got a cut on his ear.
Had three passed, in the ages from 15-18
One from a heartproblem, so he and we kind of knew it could happend
Girl was born with a heart disease. We knew it was a matter of time. Died age 17. She was the brightest, most helpful soul.
Got caught in gang shooting.
Stray bullet from an alley hit him in the car…. when he was on a ride home with family….
Didn’t know him personally, as I was new kid on the block, but across like 6 classes there was always someone feeling sad over them
Yep a nice dude, (Chriseïst) he was short but loved by woman. I say that because he was always telling me he was not happy. Also he confess me he was into a lot of hard drugs, we were 14 maximum at this time. A couple years later the director from the school came into my class to tell us he shot himself under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. R.I.P buddy.
Two girls in my year level (year 10) hung themselves in a forest in a dual suicide.
