I lied to my boss about taking medicine to cover for what I’ve been doing

r/

So I work at a call center while I’m in college to pay for rent and food and what not. I only work like 10-12 hours a week just depending on my school schedule, they’re super flexible with scheduling which is really good but one thing they care about is that you don’t use more than 10 mins a shift for the bathroom (silly I know) and I’m usually good about it, like they let us on our phones and are super helpful and want us to do good in college so they tell us to take classes and work around that schedule…so the bathroom thing isn’t that big of a deal when you look at all the pros..

But today, I’ve had like explosive diarrhea every single hour…like straight up water flowing out of my anus and when nothing comes out it sounds like an AK-47 mag dumping with the echos of the handicap stall making the vibrations more noticeable.

My boss ended up coming up to me and asking me why I’ve taken more than 10 mins for break this shift and I couldn’t even tell her the truth, I mean it’s embarrassing to say to someone who Im not close friend with ya know? I ended up lying and told her I’m on new meds which have made me nauseous and I’ve been getting waves of it throughout my shift….she bought it and said I can go home early if I need too but I told her I’m fine haha

Just wanted to get this off my chest

It’s ok. You were sick. They should let you just use the bathroom in peace. Especially if this is the first time it has ever happened.

I lie about meds all the time, kinda have to. It’s no biggie, it just gets funny really

Making chocolate milkshakes out of my butt was my go to excuse to my lead when I was serving. Nobody questions pissing out your ass

Honestly a great excuse on the fly. Some manager you see 10-12 hours a week doesn’t need to know the explosive truth lmao

There was nothing to be embarrassed about. Everyone gets diarrhea. Don’t get in the habit of lying at work.

As a woman I find 10 minutes a day for bathroom breaks ridiculous! I could see if you were on a production line that received breaks often but in an office? No way I could only do 10 minutes a day. I think I pee almost every single hour. I had 5 kids and I drink a massive amount of water daily. I could be an Olympic peer if it was a sport. Now I am very fast at it- I use to have to juggle my kids and pets. I had to be fast. But 10 minutes a day? I wouldn’t work for a company like this and I am in HR.

You gotta do what you gotta do – you’re sick. I usually tell them straight up what it is because 1. I have IBD and have embraced it 2. Don’t appreciate anyone tracking my bathroom trips. If they ask, I take the liberty of ruining their lunch.

I overall have an issue with monitoring bathroom time a problem. I’ve been in healthcare for over 20 years and seen some pretty stupid things happen because someone’s boss (or teacher) told them to do something or told them they weren’t allowed to do something related to a natural bodily function. How about if you don’t have any background in medicine, you leave people the hell alone to take care of their own functions.

If they tried to tell me I couldn’t bathroom more than 10 minutes in my 8 hour shift, I’d just shit on the floor. IBS-D!

“Sorry boss, just having some stomach trouble today.” would be enough. I know it seems different to make it seem like it’s mouth rather than rear, but ‘general GI troubles’ is enough to cover both.

You were projecting sludge out of your system, that’s the truth. From which end the sludge is coming, she doesn’t need to know.

I told my employer I’m taking meds that make me need to pee more frequently, which at the time was true, but I’ve stopped taking them and now just use the bathroom to sit for a few mins when needed an no one questions it because they think I’m on the meds still lol

I had a coworker who would get frequent UTI’s due to her previous employer refusing to allow employees bathroom breaks. It affected her urinary health long past having worked there.
