In my country between 10pm and 7am is the general guideline for no noise. So that’s the minimum. Personally I’d say before 8am is already pushing it a bit as some people with jobs simply are still sleeping then.
So my yard work is hired. They know the laws. They do it midday, it’s done when i come home from work. People around me though…wake me up with that noise at like 10 am at the earliest
My lawn maintenance guy comes at 7am every Thursday and wakes up the whole house. We are on a third of an acre and it takes him 5-7 minutes to do the whole back and front yard on his riding mower. I’d be happier if he waited until 8am though.
I’d start with the mower versus the grass trimmer. I feel like the two stroke trimmers have a more annoying noise versus the more steady hum of the mower. But honestly, once the sun is fully up I don’t consider it rude to start at any time unless your neighborhood prohibits it.
I am not aware of any city ordinance specifying times for noise. The yard gets done as early as six in the morning, before it gets hot. Don’t care if it bothers the neighbors, the ones on the left are always revving up their stupid motorcycles for no reason. The ones on the right have teenagers who hang out in their swimming pool with loud music at all hours.
There are usually regulations, so look then up. Aside from that, for good neighbour relations, it depends on the noise output. If it’s loud, maybe try sweeping before a quick blow or organising everything before the loud noise. Overall, I’d say 8 on weekdays and 9 on weekends/public holidays.
Just be considerate and keep loud noises to a minimum.
If you’ve got neighbors close by, 8 AM is usually the respectful earliest start time. But if you’re out in the middle of nowhere or your yard work is pretty quiet (like raking, not mowing), 7:30 might slide. Just don’t fire up a leaf blower at dawn unless you want side-eyes for days.
Our landscaper (my cousin) does most of the yards in our neighborhood. I took my dogs for a walk this morning about 715 and he was firing up his huge mower. I asked if it was too early but he didn’t care. He said if he was up, he was working.
I think it should be 8AM weekdays and 9AM weekends but I know some people get started at 7AM on weekends.
In Austin, Texas, construction work generally cannot start before 7 a.m. in residential areas or zones near residential use. Specifically, exterior work like clearing, grading, excavating, framing, and roofing is limited to 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
Personal rule is after 8 on a weekday & after 10 on a weekend. However, I grew up in the desert, so people often did their yard work early or late because of the heat. Which is understandable.
If you won’t be making noise or have no neighbours near, start anytime. If you will be making noise then it would probably annoy me at all hours but I’d say anytime after 8:30am would be acceptable and be finished by 7pm.
It depends, I only have 1 neighbor that would hear any equipment and during the week and they leave at 5am every day. Everyone else is far enough away that even with the windows open would only be low background noise at best.
That said, on weekends I wouldn’t be the dick out there with a chainsaw at 6am. During the week? Anything goes. On trash day, our garbage trucks are banging around at 6am rattling windows. They all have unbelievable loud screechy brakes too!! My cousin Vinny wouldn’t be sleeping in here in those days.
On the days where it’s better to be quiet, there’s plenty of things like raking, pulling weeds and other things that don’t require motorized equipment to do for an hour or two. Plus starting off slow, having an extra cup of coffee isn’t a bad thing. It’s not like anything is THAT critical to get done at the crack of dawn
I’d say follow your local ordinances at a minimum. Weekdays, I’d stretch as early as 8am and weekends, 10 am.
The rest is nuanced to your neighbors needs and how much you want to take care. You will never accommodate a person yelling about motors if they are upset about it happening in the middle of the day. But if you have an elderly neighbor who you know that sleeps later and you can/are willing to accommodate, it can have a positive impact.
Depends how much you know about others preferences and whether you’d like to take their opinions into consideration.
Well none of my neighbors are close enough to any part of my yard I care about to really hear much of anything. So whenever for me, but I would say between 8 and 9
Agree with the general consensus, if you aren’t using loud tools, then whenever you feel like it. If you need to use loud equipment, then socially 8ish sounds reasonable, I know in my area construction and whatnot starts around 6, so I don’t do anything loud until 7, unless it’s winter and I need to get to work, snowblowing has to happen lol.
8 am is fine, but if you can do 9 that would be better.
We live in Florida, and it get hot super fast so I get it. But it doesn’t mean I’m excited to hear leaf blowers at 8am, and I would think most people agree.
8am if you really need to get shit done but if you run a lawnmower or leaf blower it’s still iffy. Most people are up by then but they still don’t want to hear that shit first thing.
If time is on my side, I try and be courteous to my neighbors. If time is not on my side I will start as early or go as late as I’m allowed to. If time is working against me I can usually count on my retired neighbor to break the silence, allowing me to start guilt free. If none of the above work, I make sure to let others know immediately when they look at my yard.

Anytime after 8 am
As a one-off? Weekdays 7am.
In my country between 10pm and 7am is the general guideline for no noise. So that’s the minimum. Personally I’d say before 8am is already pushing it a bit as some people with jobs simply are still sleeping then.
Anytime if no noise is generated, check your local noise by-laws. But in most places 8 am is the rule. Or the same time you construction crews working
Don’t start before 9 AM.
So my yard work is hired. They know the laws. They do it midday, it’s done when i come home from work. People around me though…wake me up with that noise at like 10 am at the earliest

Check your county’s noise policy. Mine is 7 am. Sorry neighbors the grass needs cut get over it
I guess it depends on how loud your yard work is.
Get the quiet stuff done first (pull weeds, whatever) and then get the louder stuff done after 8 AM.
Depends on the yard work. Raking leaves or some of the less intensive quiet jobs can be done any time the sun is up.
I’d start with the mower versus the grass trimmer. I feel like the two stroke trimmers have a more annoying noise versus the more steady hum of the mower. But honestly, once the sun is fully up I don’t consider it rude to start at any time unless your neighborhood prohibits it.

9 AM for anything that has a gas engine. If it’s electric whenever
For quiet stuff like pulling weeds and planting, you could do it anytime.
For machines like lawnmowers and blowers, I personally would not do it before 9am.
I do work outside with equipment in residential areas (not as much anymore) and don’t let my team start loud work until 8am FWIW.
Never too early, fuck your neighbors.
Depends if you powered devices or not
Where I live, it’s 8am M-F and 10am on Saturday. It’s outright disallowed on Sundays. I feel that’s pretty reasonable.
Earlier than 8 is just rude.
Thanks for all the input 🙏😊
Where do ppl live where 8am is the respectful noise hour in the morning? Its 5am where i live. I would like to move.
Where do you live?
If you were to ask my dad when I was a teenager, 630 is fine.
I’ve done yard work at 1 AM. But if it makes any noise I save that for 9AM to 9PM. On hot nights I don’t mind doing a little weeding.
Also watering can be done at any time (in compliance with local laws)
Not bf 9am especially if it’s grass cutting. Your neighbors will hate you
I say if a lawn mower, chain saw or trimmer is involved, wait until 9:00 am on the weekends

It depends. Are you hunting gophers with shotguns or pulling weeds?
My suburban neighbors get mighty annoyed when I start hunting gophers at 3 AM.

Noise, then I would say daylight.
No noise, then whenever
If you’re doing anything that generates noise before 8am then you a POS
On a weekday starting around 7 if a weekend not before 10. But that’s just me lol
I’d say follow your local ordinances at a minimum. Weekdays, I’d stretch as early as 8am and weekends, 10 am.

I have a personal rule of no loud yard work before nine
9AM.
6-7 am is too early.
Before 8am: Go fuck yourself. /s
8am if you really need to get shit done but if you run a lawnmower or leaf blower it’s still iffy. Most people are up by then but they still don’t want to hear that shit first thing.
9am and it’s a free-for-all.
5/6 is crazy. I think after that you should be good.
City ordinance probably says you can start at 8 AM except Sunday might be later. Common decency would be to not do yard work before 10 AM.
12pm, never mind the laws! Who gets up that early anyway. I’m in bed ill noon even if awake!
If time is on my side, I try and be courteous to my neighbors. If time is not on my side I will start as early or go as late as I’m allowed to. I usually will wait til 9am to fire up any machinery. earlier if I already hear someone else getting to it.
Some cities have ordinances on how early yard work or outdoor vehicles or machines can start. Ours is 7am.
I think it was started because garbage trucks were coming around at 3am and it was missing people off.
Are you using loud machinery like lawn mowers etc? Remember that is illegal on a public holiday like today
