How did people perceive you after you got Botox?

r/

I’m 31, and over the past year I’ve started to develop 11 lines (those vertical lines between the eyebrows). They’ve gotten deeper really quickly.

To give some context: I never used to care much about my appearance. But ever since these lines started showing up, I’ve noticed strangers giving me weird looks. I think it’s because from a distance I still look really young—like early 20s—since I’m fit, lean, and have a defined jawline, and a slightly narrow body frame with a tall figure. But when people get closer and see the aging signs on my face, there seems to be this weird dissonance (maybe because most men my age do not have these 11 lines, and they are more of an aging sign for people over 40-50), like they’re surprised or even slightly put off (lol), especially when I have dark circles, they might think I’m a drug addict or something (lol).

Now I’m seriously considering Botox or another cosmetic treatment, but I’m curious how common or accepted that is for men. So to those of you who’ve done it:

What was your experience like?

Did it noticeably change how others reacted to you?

Did it help with how you felt about your appearance?

Appreciate any insight—especially from guys who’ve gone through something similar.

I feel like no one is going to notice if you do Botox and who cares if they do?

You’re tripping yourself out and projecting your own insecurities into what you imagine other people are thinking. Guarantee that very specific train of thought is not what people are thinking lol. You’re just imagining they are.

Paralyzing your face with neurotoxins may make you feel better, but it probably won’t change how people act around you at all.

Aging lines are fine man. Aging is part of life. You can’t let it freak you out to this degree. It’s not healthy. I’m mean do what you want, but at some point you’re going to have to embrace it. If you want to find peace that is.

I have a friend who got plastic surgery, I didn’t even notice until I was talking to someone else who was like “yeah she’s gotten some work done lately” after which I started to pay more attention, nobody’ll care unless you go all cartoony with it

So many beautiful people have permanently destroyed their faces through botox and cosmetic surgeries.

I think people seek out these treatments have body dysmorphia. You should talk to your doctor about that before seeking out for cosmetic surgeries.
