Really anywhere north. I hate cold. The closer to the equator I can get, the happier I am. I wouldn’t say never; but really anything North of I-10 is sort of not on my wish list.
California. Not for the usual reasons people think of, but I’m a paramedic and EMS there is a bad joke. Utah is a close second for the same reason
Edit for clarification: California has a very limited scope of practice for what paramedics are allowed to do. I’d basically be working with my hands tied behind my back.
Mississippi. I was there, and a woman calmly said there were two Mississippis – the okay parts and the really poor parts. When I was in Jackson, the capital, there was a boil water notice. Don’t drink the water. This happens a bunch, I’m told.
I won’t get a say in where i live for another 6 years (military), but right now, I live in what I’d call “not the worst red state.” It’s still pretty bad. I won’t ever willingly live in the really bad red states like Texas and Oklahoma.
Mississippi. So many negatives that even other states I would never live in are grateful for Mississippi so they aren’t dead last in almost every negative measure
Texas. Sorry but you got a bunch of mfs that shouldn’t own a hand gun, the heat is crazy and to top it off, a senator and governor that don’t give af about y’all texans… sorry not sorry.
Florida. Hot, high prices, shitty weather, mosquitos, crazy assholes, uninsurable homes, nature constantly getting bulldozed for Mcmansions, and hurricanes wreck the state every years
Many of them: Florida, Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana
Texas and Florida for political reasons, but also CLIMATE. I wouldn’t live anywhere in the bottom half of the country because of heat and/or awful weather. I’m a cold weather girl.
It’s a tie between Florida and Texas. No way I’d ever move my single, childless female self to either of those states. I don’t even want to visit them.
Most of them. Nothing against the states or their inhabitants, but I really like the climate where I live. I might move to Hawaii, but it’s far more likely that I will remain in California. Every other state I’ve visited is too hot/cold/wet/dry or humid for my tastes.
Moved here in 1997 and California is probably the only state I want to live in. It’s so beautiful here. I have access to great doctors which is becoming more and more important. Also, I get paid more here than I could get in any other state, for the same work.
Comments
I have no desire to live in any of them
Alaska. I couldn’t handle the weeks of darkness all winter
Texas
Hawaii. Visiting is amazing but to move to the island is another story
Florida. Too damn hot.
Alabama
Oklahoma.
Arkansas.
Literally every time I’ve ever passed though something shitty happened
Texas.
I live in Florida and that’s bad enough. Don’t think I could handle Texas.
Duh-aware, it’s Arkansas on the Eastern Seaboard. It should have been named New Mississippi.
Texas, hell no
Alabama
Really anywhere north. I hate cold. The closer to the equator I can get, the happier I am. I wouldn’t say never; but really anything North of I-10 is sort of not on my wish list.
Louisiana. that’s the answer.
A tie between Louisiana and Mississippi
OK. ND. MS, AL, WV
Texas. The weather is to oppressive just like the governor.
California. Not for the usual reasons people think of, but I’m a paramedic and EMS there is a bad joke. Utah is a close second for the same reason
Edit for clarification: California has a very limited scope of practice for what paramedics are allowed to do. I’d basically be working with my hands tied behind my back.
Denial
Texas, Florida, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee…
Anywhere in the south. No thanks to all the broke impoverished racists
If I had a way I would move out of my current hellhole state
Texas. Fuck that place. Never again
Ohio
Texas 🤮
I’m from Alabama. Mississippi is way worse.
Most of the south…
Texas. Six years there was enough to last a lifetime.
I’d live in none of them. I like my free, universal healthcare thank you very much.
Mississippi. I was there, and a woman calmly said there were two Mississippis – the okay parts and the really poor parts. When I was in Jackson, the capital, there was a boil water notice. Don’t drink the water. This happens a bunch, I’m told.
My bottom 3: Mississippi, Florida, and Delaware.
Mississippi: ranked last in everything, bad economy
Florida: awful politics and massive climate risk
Delaware: seems boring and like every state around it would be better
Alabama
Indiana for starters
Florida seems like a hellscape. While I don’t mind hot weather (living in the southwest currently), I despise humidity.
Texas and Florida.
Texas.
Any of them
Florida.
Politics aside, I hate hot weather and that alone is a turnoff.
Florida or Texas. Florida is so crowded now. Crazy drivers
Texas and Florida can fuck the right off.
TX, AL. I’m trying to get out of SC. I don’t think people should be moving to SC at all. They’re following in TX’s footsteps
Anywhere cold
Iowa.
Lived there for 10 years. Won’t do that again.
And that was when the state was significant;y more progressive than it is now.
I won’t get a say in where i live for another 6 years (military), but right now, I live in what I’d call “not the worst red state.” It’s still pretty bad. I won’t ever willingly live in the really bad red states like Texas and Oklahoma.
Missippi
Idaho
Texas. Bunch of conceited a-holes, not to mention it’s such a red state. Couple of personal reasons too.
Florida has shit politics, alligators and hurricanes.
Texas has shit politics, shit attitude and tornados.
Montana has shit politics and blizzards
Alaska has moosen and unreasonably long nights
Hawaii and Puerto Rico are surrounded by water
I’m not going to any of the wack-ass body-snatcher states.
I’m entirely uninterested in the Eastern Seaboard or Great Lakes.
Anywhere that proudly allows itself to be called the Bible Belt is just creepy AF.
Texas
1- the heat
2 1 the driving 8+ hours and still be in Texas…
3- the heat…….
Florida, Texas, the Dakotas, Georgia…anywhere in the south, really.
Mississippi. So many negatives that even other states I would never live in are grateful for Mississippi so they aren’t dead last in almost every negative measure
Florida, obviously.
Never want to live in Florida ever again.
The states I would live in is a shorter list.
Mississippi. That state has way too much negative history.
no Louisiana? i’m shocked
States with no public transportation.
West Virginia. Can’t believe nobody has said that yet
I was born in Mississippi and it’s super cheap, but it’s still the lowest of lows for education and money making so id never move back
Missouri. Truly horrific politics. The deep south gets a lot of flack for good reason, but Missouri is just as bad or arguably worse
Alaska, expensive and cold.
Also Ohio and Indiana. They are nothing and the police there are crap. Love speed traps
Texas. Sorry but you got a bunch of mfs that shouldn’t own a hand gun, the heat is crazy and to top it off, a senator and governor that don’t give af about y’all texans… sorry not sorry.
Oklahoma. Literally the worst in Education, Life, Health, Wealth, and prolly everything else lmao
Florida, Texas, are two no way states for me but pretty much the South in general.
Mississippi or Idaho
Florida
Arizona. Worst drivers in the nation, hot as fuck, scorpions…no thank you.
texas, florida, california
Mississippi or Texas.
I can’t name one state. I exclude the entire southeast.
Florida. Hot, high prices, shitty weather, mosquitos, crazy assholes, uninsurable homes, nature constantly getting bulldozed for Mcmansions, and hurricanes wreck the state every years
Florida
Any state that starts with an A
Many of them: Florida, Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana
The south
Louisiana. Hurricanes, bug bites, and omg it’s fucking hot
denial
Bible Belt, just a big circle over it with an x through it. Too hot, to religious
Rhode Island
Florida or Texas at this point. They both just seem so insane.
Mississippi, Florida, New Mexico, Texas, New Hampshire
Wyoming. It’s the least populous state and there’s really no major city or things to do.
Texas, Mississippi
The Florida panhandle
The answer is Mississippi. It’s god awful. Alabama has Huntsville and nice areas around Gulf Shores.
anywhere in the south
except I ironically live in NC
although if I had a choice I would leave
Maine.
Too much weird shit happens up there.
California
Nevada
Florida
I’d make considerable sacrifices to not live in South Carolina. I would even live in Oklahoma instead.
A state of willful ignorance
UT
Beautiful rocks, boneheaded theocracy.
Anywhere in hurricane territory
Mississippi! Looks miserable in terms of weather and poverty.
Texas. It’s the people there.
Texas and Florida for political reasons, but also CLIMATE. I wouldn’t live anywhere in the bottom half of the country because of heat and/or awful weather. I’m a cold weather girl.
Mississippi
Texas Florida Mississippi Alabama or Louisiana
Texas. Mainly because of the terrible power grid and infrastructure.
I live in Oklahoma and I wish to not live here
I couldn’t handle any religious ant-abortion state. What a miserable bitch do you have to be to force your religious views on other people.
It’s a tie between Florida and Texas. No way I’d ever move my single, childless female self to either of those states. I don’t even want to visit them.
California
Never in the confederate states, nor southern Missouri.
State of denial, yet so many do.
It would be easier to make a list of the states I WOULD live in: California, Minnesota, most of the states in the northeast.
TEXAS. FLORIDA ARKANSAS IDAHO MONTANA N. CAROLINA. S. CAROLINA KENTUCKY
New York State, it’s easily the most restrictive state when it comes to civil liberties.
Texas
Most of them. Nothing against the states or their inhabitants, but I really like the climate where I live. I might move to Hawaii, but it’s far more likely that I will remain in California. Every other state I’ve visited is too hot/cold/wet/dry or humid for my tastes.
Oklahoma is an awful place that offers literally nothing.
Anything south of va
I’m in Texas so pretty much in hell already. If anything it would be Arkansas or Florida.
This whole thread is telling me never visit states in the South East
Any red state.
Idaho literally has a bunch of white supremacist compounds.
Crazy people are picking a bunch of southern states but, as a black gay woman, the conservative ones with no diversity are way more terrifying to me.
North Dakota. I don’t want to freeze to death.
Moved here in 1997 and California is probably the only state I want to live in. It’s so beautiful here. I have access to great doctors which is becoming more and more important. Also, I get paid more here than I could get in any other state, for the same work.
Alabama or Mississippi
Texas; one half is tornadoes, the other is floods, the rest is racism and corruption
I wouldn’t want to live in any of them, and definitely not in the next four years or so.
Having just sailed out of Galveston, Texas.
I never want to hear Texans refer to LA or NY as a shithole ever again. Pot calling the fucking kettle.
Texas
