I was super excited to help out, but here’s where I messed up. We were supposed to keep the party a secret, but I had no idea she had already planned to call me that day. When she called, I thought it was just a normal chat, so I started telling her about how everyone was getting ready and that I was picking up the cake. She immediately went silent, and I realized what I had just done.
She was heartbroken when she found out that I ruined the surprise. I tried to apologize, but I could tell she was really hurt. She said it wasn’t just the surprise—it felt like I didn’t care enough to keep it a secret for her. I feel like such an idiot, and I don’t know how to make it right.
