I paid off 40k in student loans in my first year out of college. AMA

r/

Wife and I graduated and got married. Both got jobs in education. Paid off my wife’s student loans in 1 year. Dual income. No kids.

Lived like that for another year and bought a house.

Two teachers. Paid off 40k in one year through reasonable money management.

What do you think about the current student loan situation

Nice job! I didn’t pay mine off as quick, but I did pay off $120,000 through what I would also call reasonable money management. I was single for about half the time.

Did you miss out on anything that you regret now? What’s your next money goal?

Congratulations. Must feel good to pay off student loans within a year. What methods did you use to pay off in a year?

How much interest did you pay overall?

What advice would you give to others who want to pay off their student loans?

Did you consider that putting 40K in the stock market would potentially bring in more than the interest owed from a low interest student loan? With the current market free fall, it’s a great time to buy in for the long term.

My first thought was charter school, which was confirmed judging by your post history. Fake teachers fuck off.

What do you think it is about your character and personality that gave you motivation and discipline to attack the loans head on?
Are there any patterns in your past that would explain how you became the guy that eliminated his loan debt in 365 days? If you only answer one question, please make it the second one.
