I (27M) used to smoke two packs of cigarettes a day. I started when I was 13 and became heavily addicted. My father convinced me to switch to vaping and after 4 years I decided to quit vaping and have never felt better. Figured it would be good to share tips and advice considering how many people want to quit but can’t.
I smoked a pack a day for 8 years. Now I’m two years smoke/vape-free. AMA.

Do you still get urges? Or do they eventually go away?
What alternatives are you currently on? Nicotine pouch, patch, spray?
I am also on vaping (iqos) phase for two years. How did you manage to leave it completely, because I am also trying and i do not have so many success?

How did you do this? I truly have a strong urge to quit, but my urge to smoke is stronger, leaving me constantly at a loss…
What’s your secret?
Hey man, it feels really good to read something like that. I used to smoke two packs a day for 10 years, and now I’ve been clean for 12 days. Like you said, I’ve never felt better. I did manage to quit once for 8 months, but then I relapsed—this time, I really hope it lasts for forever. Cold turkey is definitely the best way in my opinion (quitting without any nicotine replacements).
First of all, congratulations! That is seriously something to be proud of. I started when I was 22 (5 years ago) and oh boy do I regret it. From what I’ve heard, quitting cold turkey is usually the best (and most difficult) way to do it. Other than switching to vaping, was there anything else you did to combat that urge to smoke? Change of routine? Environment? I need all the advise that I can get lol it’s such a terrible habit and also the fact that nonsmokers are able to smell it from a mile away makes me feel so much worse about it.
