Is it normal to no longer be able to stay up “late” without nausea/stomach pain/fever dream-like state?

r/

M33, have been unable to stay up past like 10pm without feeling really nauseous, usually with stomach pains. I will also often lay in bed with my head spinning, crazy repetitive thoughts going through my head, making it really hard to fall asleep.

Is this me just needing to adjust to myself and go to bed early? Or is something really wrong with me?

What does the time have to do with feeling ill? Go see a doctor.

I do not get any of these symptoms while staying up late. I don’t speak for every over-30 guy ouy there, of course, but this sounds unusual and needing of more investigation. Time to talk to your doc and some specialists, if you aren’t already. Maybe get a Carbon Monoxide detector too, just in case it’s something to do with your home environment.

Sounds like you’re stressing about the following day. Work perhaps? Either way you need to go to the docs.

I’d talk to a doctor but my first thought is are you snacking or drinking a lot of sugary drinks when staying up late? It could be a a sugar crash.

Dude I have relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis and I can’t stay up late anymore and when I do it’s not great, but it does not feel like that.

Go see a doctor, somethings not right.

Sounds like you’re describing a combination of fatigue and anxiety.

Stop using your phone, computer, and TV after 8:00 pm. Do some yoga or meditation. Read a book. Take a shower. Have some quiet time that does not involve electronics. If you need a snack, have a healthy snack like fruit. Definitely do not eat sugar or junk food after dinner because this fucks up your metabolism before bed.

I would talk to a doctor. I have trouble settling down mentally and falling asleep, but I don’t feel ill or feel physical pain.

Panic attacks would be my guess.

    Do you hate your job?

I went to sleep at 1:00 am this morning. No problem with that whatsoever.

Sounds like an actual fever. I’m over 45 and still go to bed 130am every day (not that its doing me any favors).

Honestly, get your hormones checked. Feels like a cortisol issue .

No, that’s not normal. That’s worth a visit to a doctor.

Make an appointment NOW! Men love to procrastinate on medical care, but you need to get a lot more proactive about it as you age.

I’ll start by echoing others – you should talk to a doctor.

That said, to me this sounds like anxiety or even panic attacks brought on by fatigue.

My suggestion be to try going to bed earlier (or just getting more sleep in general), and staying off caffeine and sugar as much as possible.

    Exercise helps too!

Honestly bro sounds like you have severe anxiety. Go get some help.

Go see a doctor. Start journaling things like sleep, food, exercise, work and moods.

I’m 45 and I can stay up until the wee hours. You need to see a doctor, bud.

65 here. When I was 33 I could stay up drinking until midnight, and still be up at 5:30 to get ready for work. You sound more like me at 65 with chronic medical issues. Go see a doctor.

No, and there’s no correlation. See a doctor.

Doctor now dude. Don’t be dumb.

This isn’t normal at any age. Schedule an appointment with your doctor.
