What other subscriptions I have to take it’s place, and if the service in question really has anything exclusive I need in the immediate future.

  2. pissoffyounonce Avatar

The monthly amount closely followed by their selection of movies/shows.

  3. kwyl Avatar

i never pay for streaming. too many good free ones

  4. Mijder Avatar

Did they cancel MST3K? Yes? Then cancel!

  5. wordpresspete Avatar

Because there’s always a free alternative to paid subscriptions

  6. haspamm_ Avatar

    If no bundles no subscription

  7. 9AllTheNamesAreTaken Avatar

I pay like $4.99 for a VPN and watch stuff all over the world. Screw netflix.

  8. offlyfans Avatar

Maybe time to cancel Netflix or other. Getting ads, show removed, price increase. It’s like … starting to be ridiculous

  9. Ok-Fly9177 Avatar

its similar to when your rent goes up. Do I really even like this place? in my case my xfinity and netflix went up in the same week so I cancelled both

  10. MrRandomNumber Avatar

What’s the last thing I watched there that I enjoyed?

  11. BaconGivesMeALardon Avatar

I get one streaming platform per month, skip a month then go to a different service., I don’t need 12 months of something to keep up with a story. I need only a month to keep up with Star Wars a year.

The cost increase is nada to me as I refuse to make them a habit.

  12. Irissah Avatar

    The price increase

  13. EarnYourSleep Avatar

Not wanting to budge on a budget

  14. WorkmenWord Avatar

I’m getting a home server with Plex for this reason – plus privacy.

  15. boxofdem0ns Avatar

The ability to setup a vpn and a media server

  16. DreamyPrimrose Avatar

I’ve never been able to justify paying for any streaming services other than Spotify, since I don’t watch tv/movies often enough to justify the price. I do watch YouTube occasionally but that’s it

  17. spragleknas Avatar

Break down usage per month, cancel up to 4 services based on actually monthly viewing time and coming releases.

This is being done with my family as we share those possible, or expand with multiple users. Each has one of the “big ones”.

  18. Natural-Coat-3159 Avatar

I think the last time I had Netflix was five years ago.

Even the people who I know that has paid streaming, don’t really watch anything new.

Internet TV and the free sites have a good selection of older shows and anything else I need to watch, I’ll find it for free or wait like 2+ years because people will still talk about that show, movie, etc.

  19. Mr_Lumbergh Avatar

    The quality of content.

I cancelled Netflix after the last price hike because the content I was getting wasn’t worth it anymore, things I liked being taken to other platforms, etc. I’m still willing to pay for AppleTV purely for Severance.

  20. anticerber Avatar

My wife. Hell if it was up to me I’d have one streaming service and that’s about it

  21. Gagewhylds Avatar

It’s very easy to download all these shows for free

  22. Shyassasain Avatar

Do they currently have anything even remotely good to watch? No? Then I’m paying extra for nothing and that doesn’t sit right.

  23. interestingstoryor Avatar

If they increase the price, I cancel the service.

  24. Due_Essay447 Avatar

Usage. I pretty much only have youtube premium at this point

  25. Maveclies Avatar

When they increase prices and put adds in

  26. Zee-J Avatar

Honestly, Netflix with ads is a no brainer. I switched a few months ago and I seldom see ads. Less than 1 ad per hour.

  27. MaxHobbies Avatar

Anything with ads is a non starter. I also won’t pay for a service I’m not actively watching. I’m down to Disney+ and that’s mainly for my child. I’ve enjoyed building a physical media collection again because it’s dirt cheap.

  28. MattyGWS Avatar

Just, is it worth it to me? Do I agree to the cost for the service I’m getting? If not then I stop my subscription.

  29. majornerd Avatar

Netflix is available in many hotels and I travel 250 days a year.

  30. HemlockHex Avatar

    Ads.

Also the fucking GPS shit. I want to log into my Netflix when I stay with my family, and they fk up my account for a month

  31. wikiwombat Avatar

Only thing I keep 100% is disney+. Specifically because I have a grandkid and get credit back with my Amex. Everything else gets cancelled when there isn’t anything else that interests me currently or the near future. I recently resubbed to Netflix in a couple years, will catch up on a few things and then cancel again for probably another couple years.

  32. CaramelThundahhh Avatar

Honestly, I slowly got used to ads with other streaming services I pick up through promos. I always paid full price for top tier Netflix since 2014 and have slowly been dropping my tier with each price hike. Of all the services I have, I always liked ad-free Netflix, but I refuse to spend over $20/month for it.

Now I use the ad breaks to check my phone or grab something from the kitchen. I refuse to pay attention to the ads and let the companies win out of pure spite.

  33. Difficult_Distance57 Avatar

Dropped Netflix, subscribed to Dropout TV

  34. BlackWindBears Avatar

I ended my Netflix subscription because I didn’t feel I was watching enough content to justify the price. Instead I rent or purchase content as one-offs.

The sticker price is high, but the artists still get paid and $216 a year buys a lot of content.

Sometimes I’ll just try to make lists of what I want to see from Netflix and once it exceeds $18, I’ll get a membership for a month and watch the things.

I think artists should get paid. I work in software, it’d be the height of hypocrisy for me to pirate content just because you can download it, but I think it’s wise to do a cost/benefit analysis on everything

  35. KTPChannel Avatar

    We should plan a mass-unsub.

If 10%+ of subscribers leave the day after they increase prices, someone on the analytics team will panic.

  36. Mr-Bry-Guy Avatar

I only keep the ones ive been watching recently. Worst comes to worst I’ll just get the service again. I’m down to 3 total. Netflix, peacock and amazon. Cheapest versions of them. And I only have amazon because i buy movies a lot i also have appleTV but thats because i bundled up so its $20 for streaming tv,music, and games i think.

  37. WrongdoerRough9065 Avatar

It was included in my cell phone plan

  38. starryeyeddynamo Avatar

I canceled Netflix because they canceled Mindhunter

  39. Sycolerious_55 Avatar

None. I canceled my subscription, and now I just pirate what they have. If they’re gonna raid my wallet, then I’m raiding their damn library.

  40. IAmDinosaurROWR Avatar

The only streaming service I use on a definite weekly basis is HBO Max – and they also have a history of creating excellent shows in a multitude of genres. That is why I keep them. Netflix I will subscribed to for maybe 3 months out of the year to catch up on shows and rewatch old ones, but I get rid of it. Most recently, I got rid of it when they emailed me about a price increase. That’s the best way to ensure I get rid of your service – a price increase or reduced quality for the price I’m already paying.

  41. Abject-Version-3349 Avatar

I left Netflix after they started restricting content on their with ads plan. I’m on a fixed income and it made me feel like I was being punished for it.

  42. get_hi_on_life Avatar

When they removed the 9.99 their last summer i left and haven’t missed it. I don’t want ads and I don’t need 4k or multi devices, it’s just me, why must everything be shit or premium. I want my normal good enough middle.

  43. whyisitsofuckingcold Avatar

How much I actually use it. If I’m not actively watching anything on the service and I don’t find myself browsing often, I’ll cancel it. No use paying for things I’m not using.

Also, if a service I pay for has the things I want to watch on it but charges an additional fee to watch it or requires a higher tier of service to watch and it happens more than once, I cancel on principle. What am I even paying for then?

  44. gringgo Avatar

It’s all about price for me. I like when I cancel and then they come back with a great deal. Paramount+ and Peacock do this a lot. Otherwise, most services don’t have enough good shows to keep long term and most of them have commercials.

  45. YoungManYoda90 Avatar

How often do I currently use it and will I watch anything on it this month

  46. spytez Avatar

Does the value and price beat the inconvenience of pirating.

  47. R0binSage Avatar

I like watching shows and movies. As long my wage allows me to afford them, I’ll keep them.

  48. Griffie Avatar

How often I use the service, and do they have a good selection of content I enjoy. Years back, Netflix removed every one of my favorite shows and movies, then raised the price. I cancelled my subscription and never went back to them.

  49. zenpop Avatar

Ads of any kind. Fuck that shit.

  50. interesseret Avatar

I got netflix because it meant I had a convenient place to watch everything i wanted to watch, without delays or annoyances.

Nowadays I need seven different services to do the same, and they are all much too pricey for what they individually bring to the table for my tastes.

So I don’t have any of them any more.

  51. mvw2 Avatar

Netflix has increased prices religiously every year, sometimes more than once a year, since the day they started.

  52. WATGU Avatar

The ease of having something for my wife and kids to watch.

If it was completely up to me I’d be back on the high seas but I need something for them that just works without set up.

  53. Archimedes82 Avatar

I have no streaming services. Yarrrrr

  54. Festernd Avatar

There are many factors that determine if I feel it’s worth it to subscribe or continue to subscribe…

BUT there is one that will absolutely mean I won’t give them a penny.

Ads. Fuck ads. I don’t even care if it’s an ad for the service itself. If they insert an ad, I’m canceling immediately and I won’t be coming back.

  55. Sundae7878 Avatar

I look at my annual budget and plug in the new number. That tells me how much it will change my numbers for the year. Then I decide if that can fit and it’s still worth it, or if I’d rather cancel.

  56. transmission612 Avatar

Cost vs value. Do I feel I’m getting a worth while value? Yes, keep it. No, cancel it. Granted I cancelled Netflix a long time ago. I just didn’t watch it enough to warrant it.

  57. Electronic_Okra879 Avatar

Laziness tbh, to log in on browser and cancel it. Ik they made it intentionally so but it works (for them)

  58. mystrymaster Avatar

Bounce between all the streaming services that you are interested in 1 at a time. When you have watched everything you want, cancel or suspend and move along.

Not only does it artificially limit your options meaning you will watch all those shows that you think 1 day but you will also find you are watching less TV.

  59. Sareth740 Avatar

I canceled Netflix when they removed multiple houses.

Who the fuck sells a service for 4 tvs at 4k and expects us to believe they intended it to be 4 tvs in the same household being played simultaneously?

    Absolutely not.

  60. Novielo Avatar

Tarrifs and Trump bullying Canada for whatever reason goes through his mind. I stopped spending in US based companies

  61. anshourogue Avatar

Do my kids still use often?

  62. StrebLab Avatar

This question feels like market research.

  63. BelleMakaiHawaii Avatar

How much we use the service, it the use worth the price

  64. Ordinary_Age87 Avatar

I stopped paying for streaming services once they introduced ads, if I wanted ads, I’d have cable. Went back to pirating because the cost increases will never stop, and the entertainment industry is already making obscene amounts of money that isn’t justified and I don’t want to contribute to that anymore.

  65. ratchetcoutoure Avatar

If I watched enough of the service the past 3 months. If I watched at least 20 hours, I’ll keep the subscription. Otherwise, I’ll cancel for the time, and resubscribe when certain show I enjoy is returning

  66. Wheels682021 Avatar

Right now totally finances. I want to pay off some stuff so I canceled 3 streaming

  67. Gremmer_mistakes Avatar

I just one service for a couple months to watch the things I want and rotate through them. Even with price increases, I have lots of content to watch in the month.

  68. One_Culture8245 Avatar

Netflix, because it got ridiculous with the one screen thing.

Discovery +, because I wasn’t actually watching it.

  69. Rev-Dr-Slimeass Avatar

The only streaming service I pay for is YouTube Premium. Just too useful for how I use YouTube. Everything else is easy enough to find elsewhere if you catch my drift.

  70. [deleted] Avatar

    What’s the latest price at?

  71. dare978devil Avatar

I started the “pay for one service, cancel, get another one” about 3 years ago. It’s great, I have tried many services as a result, taking advantage of their new user offers. I don’t pay for more than one service at a time, watch everything I want, then switch.

It costs nothing to cancel, and nothing to sign up again. And they all have sign-up or come-back offers making it even more affordable.

  72. shaihalud69 Avatar

    If the lineup is garbage.

  73. LostEarthDog Avatar

I wait for deals, binge and cancel. Rotate. It takes discipline and planning.
    But it saves $$$$$$

  74. Necessary_Eagle_3657 Avatar

I will sub to support the shows I want made. I wished I could have done this in the past for Game of Thrones etc. I just subbed to Disney for Andor. I leave when there’s nothing much to watch.

  75. MXKIVM Avatar

Most streaming services are 45% shit ive seen already, 45% garbage I don’t want to see, and 10% something cool a few times a year or gets canceled.

They were never worth the price, in my opinion.

  76. gizm0o Avatar

Technically I pay for 2. YoutubeTV because even though its pretty much 120% than what I originally paid, it’s still cheaper than cable (for my mother) and Hulu with Disney+ for like $10. Netflix is part of my TMobile service so it doesnt cost me. Once they no longer want to pay, RIP Netflix

  77. TwiceInEveryMoment Avatar

Main thing is how much I actually use it. I don’t tend to stick around watching things I don’t enjoy, so if I find I’m rarely using a service there’s no point in keeping it. I cancelled Netflix because of the account sharing ‘crackdown’ bullshit.

  78. killerkoala343 Avatar

Netflix is bad news. They are not paying their workers on some shows that get cut. We’re talking millions of dollars on some pretty big productions. Some celebrities who were associated with these failed productions are so embarrassed to see how Netflix has treated those behind the camera the celebrities are attempting to cover the costs out of their own pockets. Good times. Privatize the gains. Socialize the losses.

  79. Impressive_Star_3454 Avatar

Ditched Netflix not worth it as a constant platform. I have Prime with AMC+, Paramount Plus, cheap version, and Disney/ Hulu bundle.

I am, however, considering an external HD antenna for free channels.

  80. LurkHereLurkThere Avatar

Personally, cancellation of multiple shows with incomplete character arcs, multiple price increases, the decision to involve advertisements.

I’ve also cancelled other services for the same reasons, why should I sink my time into a show, feel invested in characters and/or have to sit through adverts when I can pick up a book or sink the time into a more rewarding hobby.

  81. pure_hearts_peer Avatar

Everyone answering here is giving these streaming companies free feedback to use against us. Ick. I can foresee how they will use this data to make it even that much more insufferable. BOYCOTT

  82. basement-thug Avatar

    Don’t sweat a few bucks a month…

  83. Extension_Chair_989 Avatar

The price increases are made up bullshit and I will never use the service again

  84. Dohi014 Avatar

Canceled Netflix specifically because I find it nauseating the price they want me to pay for canceling amazing shows, one after another, after only one season. I feel my viewership doesn’t matter there. Does it anywhere these days though?

  85. drdildamesh Avatar

    Does it bring me joy
